Next MorningAfter a long time, it was an amazing dream for Asuna. For the past year, almost every night was filled with nightmares, her mother's disapproving look, or the eerie face of her father's junior - Sugou Nobuyuki as she remembered. But the previous night, for the first time in Aincrad, her sleep was pleasant. She could still feel the warmth Kirito's chest radiated and the feeling of his abs against her breasts - how they would move up and down each time he breathed. Even though she was moderately awake, she unable to let go of the warmth which made her so comfortable.
As time progressed, she had to wake up due to the ear ringing sound of metal on metal. Asuna woke up with a yawn and saw Kirito watching a video from his menu. He winced on seeing Asuna stir up and switched the video off immediately. Kirito leaned forward and softly kissed her shoulder, and a jolt of electricity coursed through Asuna's spine causing her to hold him tightly. He pulled the comforter up to her neck and began to play with her hair.
"I'm sorry I woke you up, Asuna. I didn't mean to do that", he whispered to her, tucking a strand of her hair behind her ear, and Asuna smiled in response . She followed up by snuggling closer to him, wrapping her arms tightly around his lean waist.
"What were you watching, Kirito-kun?", she asked him and turned to the side to stare out of the window. She felt something was wrong - the window was not supposed to be that close to the bed. She shot up on realising that Kirito was sleeping on the windowsill and he simply raised his eyebrow.
"This was more comfortable than the bed, and I didn't seem to hear any complaints from you", he smirked. Asuna gritted her teeth before cuddling back into his warm embrace.
"You didn't answer my question", she mumbled from his chest and looked up slowly to meet his eyes, where he was lost in her gaze for possibly the millionth time.
"I..umm", he started and regained his composure after a second before playing the video - it was of the battle between him and Heathcliff. "I was watching my battle with Heathcliff"
"And what of it? You defeated him, didn't you? Why bother about it?", she enquired with a frown and he shifted uncomfortably.
"Look at this. Do you remember when I attacked him with Howling Octave and when I put him out of position, I moved to a Sonic Leap?", he asked her and she nodded her head weakly. "Not too clearly - but it does sound familiar"
"Look at the speed at which he brought his shield to block my attack? Even you are not that fast, Asuna", he frowned and Asuna smiled in response. "But then, you have always defeated me, haven't you? Even though I am almost twice as fast as you, I have never been able to breach your defence. Ever wondered why?"
Kirito shook his head and Asuna smiled victoriously before rising up to straddle his lap.
"Because we have been observing each other from the first day we came here. I always think I would know when and how you would attack me, but at the last moment, you would do something entirely different. It's your unpredictability", she explained and Kirito rolled his eyes. "That was as informative as philosophy - absolutely nothing"
"Be patient, dummy! What I wanted to say was that even Heathcliff has been watching us the entire time - so I guess even he must know about how you would attack. You don't have to look at everything suspiciously, you know?", she snapped and he sighed with a nod. "Maybe I was a bit too sceptical. Maybe it was nothing at all. Thanks, Asuna - I needed that"
Asuna smiled and wrapped her arms around his neck. She moved her lips slowly to his ear and rubbed her nose on his ear before sucking his earlobe. "Maybe you can show me your gratitude by some other means?"
