Chapter 8
Lifeless White Beings
I wish I could lessen the pain she is experiencing right now. Based on how she answered, I could see grief in her eyes. The way she sighed and the way she looks at them leaving together was the saddest expression anyone could make despite knowing how much you like someone.I was able to understand the concept of "date" in no time. Actually, I had a little chit- chat with the winner lady while Saoirse was waiting for us.
She said that date was a process where couples start to get to know each other where at least one have a "romantic interest" to the other. I'm not sure with this romantic interest thingy because of course I am considered to be beginner.
This was my first time using a human body, acting like a human, and living like a human. But I'm pretty sure how to like someone.
"Hey." I called Saoirse's attention as she observed people leaving the event.
"Bakit?" she answered while a little annoyed.
"Well do you remember our pinky swear?" I asked her and she was shocked by my words. I guess she wasn't expecting for what I was planning.
"Yes? Pero sigurado kang gagamitin mo na ngayon yung pinky swear nating dalawa. Ren, I mean, prince, ayaw mo bang isipin muna kung anong balak mong ipagawa sa akin?" she explained.
"Honestly, this is the second time I have a request for someone in my whole life." I rubbed my nape and brought out a little chuckle. "I just want to know more about Saoirse Ibarra." I said while her jaw dropped; not sure how to react.
"You know, I need to know how human usually act, live, and love so that I could help you anytime you need me." I explained. She came back to normal after hearing my explanation.
"Oh so you mean, you want to know what life is?" she raised one of her brows and crossed her arms as if she was disappointed on what I was requesting.
"Yes, but first, we need to go somewhere else." I said as I offered my hand. She claimed it nicely and followed my footsteps.
I decided to give her the painting that she admired the moment we entered the stall. She was not informed or anything about the plans I have though to make her a little bit happy. When we arrived at the store, I can see amusement in her eyes; not believing what she's seeing and was about to jump for happiness.
"I-is this for real?" she whispered after I talked to the lady human who sells the paintings. I received the painting by showing the certificate I won. "Congratulations on winning. This is the painting you are longing for." the lady said while looking at Saoirse.
"Salamat." she thriftily said.
As soon as we head out the store she smacked me so hard that made me hissed from the pain.
"Ano nanaman itong balak mo?! Para sayo yung price kaya wag kung ano-anong bagay yung bilhin mo." she nagged and hit me twice.
"Don't be so angry, I won't give you anything else after that painting except my service and guidance. Now it is just all about my self." I defended myself to stop her from smacking me.
"K." she snorted. "Please transform me into a decent human being." I put my hands together and smiled at her after saying that.
"It is an honor, Rabbit Prince." she responded and did a traditional bow.
"From now on, please call me, Ren." I said suddenly. I don't know, that completes my new identity, it feels right.
"O--kay? Kung 'yun ang gusto mo." she said with a questioning look.
Saoirse suddenly leaned closer and looked at me with her investigating eyes. "Why are you not speaking formally all of a sudden." she hissed and snorted.
"I thought we should speak informally from now on." I responded and she put both of her hands in her tiny waist.
"I said speak like a normal person pero hindi ibig sabihin nun na ganyan na ang paraan ng pananalita mo." she snapped when she said "pananalita."
"Okay, I understand." If that's what she likes then I'll do it.
"Okay~ let's go shopping!" she yelled and pulled my hands taking me with her.
We arrived at a store full of unfamiliar garments. I see things similar to what she is wearing and weird looking white humans that are not moving at all; wearing those modern clothes.
I tried helping them move but I accidentally removed one of it's arm so I unconsciously screamed. "Aaah!" every other moving humans stopped to see the situation I am into. I tried to put the arm of the weird white humans but Saoirse glared at me. So I calmed myself down.
"Anong eskandalo ang balak mo nanamang simulan?" she whispered-yelled as if I made an unnecessary scene. I can hear laughs and murmurs from the crowd.
One of the humans approach us and Saoirse gave the lifeless arm to her. "A-ah, ateng saleslady, sorry po sa nangyari. Eto po oh." she said while feeling embarrassed.
"Okay lang po miss. Kami na po ang bahala, have fun shopping!" the so-called saleslady responded with a warm smile.
Saoirse started pulling me to the direction where "men's section" was and stopped there to educate me.
"Ikaw huh. You are making a scene that would give other people the wrong idea. They might find you as nakawala sa mental if you continue to act like that." she whisper-yelled while trying to cover me from the humans who were watching us.
"Papano na natin sila patitigilin?" she said worriedly while talking to herself. I tried to find a way to bring back our privacy.
I looked at the humans and started to pinch her cheeks causing her to change her reaction. "I'm sorry for doing that, I just want to prank you because you are not focusing on me." I said sweetly realizing that it wasn't me who is controlling my mind. I felt a link connected from the moon.
You're welcome. master said.
Her mouth was left open and humans starts to get back to their businesses. I was also shook to how I acted and said all those word out of a sudden.
"P-pano mo nalaman kung anong ibig sabihin nng prank?" she stammered and was recovering from disbelief while I was starting to question my actions.
"I-I'm not sure, I am also amused by what I have said." I panicked but she patted my shoulder.
"Well you actually did a great job." she complimented me and pointed the leaving humans using her lips like a duck.
"Ngayong nandidito na tayo sa men's section. Let's go!" she started walking but I stopped her because I want to ask, "What are those lifeless white beings?" I pointed those weird things I accidentally ruined awhile ago.
"Those are mannequins." she leaned closer to whisper. "Sila ang nagsisilbing display ng mga damit para ipakita kung anong itsura ng mga ito kapag nasuot na. Don't you worry they weren't alive." she added.
"So, I acted like a fool for nothing." I sighed because of sudden realization. "Oo, at buti alam mo." she replied and she chuckled.
"Can we start now?" her emotions differs as she said those words; checking some garments that look unusual and weird.
Gulp. Okay, here goes nothing. Time for a transformation.
