I was walking through the halls when I came out to a garden with a bench. I noticed a figure sitting on it out of the corner of my eye. "I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to bother you," I said, beginning to turn away.
"Almithara?" I spun around at the familiar voice, staring at the figure on the bench. Walking closer, I recognized the features of Bilbo's face.
"Bilbo! It's so good to see you!" I laughed, hugging him. "I see Gandalf kept his promise to me. How have you been?"
"I've been good. I'm slowly getting better. The Elvish medicine is helping," he told me. I knew it would. We talked some more, him telling me about his stay here in Rivendell and me telling him about the journey so far. I could see he was starting to get tired, so I offered to walk him back to his room. We turned a corner and at the end of the hallway, I saw Anna and Kili sitting together. She was staring at him as he told her something, but they were sitting too close for my comfort. I felt a feeling I had never felt before. What was it? Anger? No. Sadness? Then it hit me; jealousy. I said goodnight to Bilbo, then turned, going back the way I had come. I found the Dwarves sitting around a fire, feasting on meat and laughing. I sat down on a bench against the wall, watching the flames dance around.
"Bombur," Bofur said, throwing a sausage link to the Dwarf. He caught it and there was a creaking sound before Bombur came crashing to the ground, the table he was sitting on breaking into pieces. All the Dwarves started laughing and I could hardly contain my own. Kili and Anna walked up and my laughter stopped when I saw her bend down to kiss him on the cheek and making him blush. I quickly looked away as he came to sit down next to me. Anna started walking away and I quickly got up, going after her.
"Anna! Wait!" She turned around, eyebrows raised. "I heard Gandalf and Radagast talking earlier. They were saying something about the Old Fortress, about Dol Guldur. I think you should ask your father. Whatever it is, it concerns you." She thought about it for a second before nodding her head and turning away.
I went back to my seat and Kili gave me a strange look, "Everything alright?"
"Yes, I was just telling her what I heard Gandalf and Radagast talking about earlier," I revealed. Kili got lost in thought as I stared at him, admiring his facial features. Without even thinking about it, I grabbed his hand, pulling him away from the group.
"Almi, where are we going?" I ignored his question and kept walking. When I found a secluded balcony with a beautiful view of a waterfall, I stopped. "What are we doing out here?" he asked.
"We need to talk, Kili. About us and about where this is going. Because I like you, probably a lot more than I care to admit and definitely a lot more than I should since we're on this quest and one of us could possibly die. But I couldn't keep hiding how I really felt, so now I've decided to come out and tell you," I ranted, pacing back and forth. When I turned to continue my pacing, I found Kili standing in the way. Before I could finish my rant, Kili grabbed my face in his hands, crashing his lips onto mine. Getting past the shock, I let my eyes flutter closed as I kissed him back. He made me walk backwards until my back hit a pillar and his body was pressed up against mine. He began to pull away, but I moved forward, keeping our lips attached. I had been waiting, longing for this for a while now and I didn't want it to end. I tangled my fingers in his hair, the kiss heating up. His lips made their way to my neck as his hands slowly traveled down my body. Working his way back up, he kissed right underneath my earlobe and a soft moan escaped my lips. I could tell Kili liked it because his kisses became more aggressive.
"Ahem," someone said, clearing their throat. Kili pulled away from me and looked over to see his brother, standing there scratching the back of his neck. "Thorin sent me to come find you. He says we need to get some rest before leaving at dawn.
"Leave? But we only just got here," I emphasized. Fili shrugged before walking away. I slouched against the pillar. "I can't believe we have to leave already."
"I know. And I was just beginning to like it here," Kili said, a mischievous glint in his eye.
"You only like it here because you got to kiss me," I joked.
He mocked hurt, "Excuse me, I think the scenery is very beautiful. And the people here are quite decent."
"Come on, we better get back to the group," I told him, pushing on his chest. He didn't budge. "Kili, come on! I'm serious!"
"Can't we just stay here a little bit longer?" He asked, burying his head into my neck and leaving light kisses.
"As much as I would love to, we have a quest to finish." I pushed on his chest again and he moved backwards, grabbing onto my hands.
"Fine," he sighed, walking slowly. I rolled my eyes, dragging him to make him walk faster. Dawn came and the Dwarves had already finished packing up, ready to leave. I stumbled along with the group, still tired.
"Be on your guard," I heard Thorin shout from the front of the group. "We're about to step over the edge of the wild. Balin, you know these paths. Lead on." Thorin stopped, letting the others walk past him. I, too, had stopped, taking a look back at Rivendell. I felt a pang of sadness hit my heart. I hadn't said goodbye to Bilbo. "Almithara, I suggest you keep up." I nodded, leaving the home of my kin behind me.
