Crescent: The Beginning

Chapter 1

The sun was hot but the wind was cool and calm. As my brother and I waved goodbye to our mom we headed into our cars and were on our way to school. At first I noticed my brother increasing his speed as I started to gain on him. I said to myself “If this moron thinks I’m going to race him and get a $250 ticket he’s making a sad mistake.”

I thought then again “What a jackass!”

As I rolled up to school and parked I got out and Jenny and Kyra dragged me aside. Jenny said “I just heard that Maya told Kayla to tell Missy who told Zach to tell Liz that told Mia who told us that Nick is going to ask you out! .

Screams filled the air as I stared in disbelief. All my mind was saying is Nick, Nick, Nick loading………..Nick, Nick, Nick malfunction…….. Nick, Nick, Nick override and then my mind went completely blank and rebooted. It was like I was a whole new person.

“You’re joking right? Nick and I oh please he’s Nick freaking Weston for crying out loud! And besides if Paisley founded out I’m going to date her ex- boyfriend she’s going to kill me like big time. Why would a guy like Nick would be interested in me anyway?”

“Jessie stop I know he likes you and you know it” said Jenny.

“So when is Nick going to ask me out?” I asked.

“At lunch” they said in unison.

“Oh and guys I’m going to have to have to skip practice today”

“Why?” Kyra asked.

I have exams at the University today and it doesn’t finish till seven.” I replied.

“But you know how Paisley reacts when people skip practice.” said Jenny.

“Don’t worry I’m sure she’s not going to mind after I explain why I skipped.” I said.

“Okay I’ll see you later Jess good luck!” said Jenny.

“Bye make us proud.” said Kyra.

I watched them both as they headed off to Bio class. Then there was a voice behind me “Cutting class?” I turned around to see my ex-boyfriend Dylan and rolled my eyes.

“Oh it’s you” I said in disgust.

“Why do you hate me?” he asked. I could feel the anger building up inside of me

. “Because you nearly ran me over you chaotic maniac” I screamed at him.

“I was drunk” he replied lazily.

“You were drunk Dylan? I should have reported you to the cops” I replied angrily.

“But you didn’t.” he said. “Chill ax that was a long time ago Kitty” he said with a grin.

“That was three weeks ago” I screamed “and don’t you ever call me Kitty again.” I said furiously.

“Fine I’m sorry” he said touching my arm. I quickly brushed him off and stomped off saying “Apology denied!” What a Jerk.

In chem. I spotted Nick staring at me and smiling. I smiled back. When class was over he walked over to me and asked “Hey, Jessie I was wondering if I could maybe have your number?”

“Why?” I asked.

“I wanted to ask you something.” He said nervously.

“So I heard.” I said trying to keep my cool. “Okay I’m just going to come right out with it, can you go out with me tonight?” he asked.

“Sure you can pick me up at eight” I replied.

“Okay see you at eight” he said going through the door.

When it was lunchtime I didn’t even bother to go to the cafeteria cause if I told them what happened with Nick and I, Paisley would have a fit that I am going out with her ex-boyfriend. So I headed off to the University early. When I got there I parked and headed to the cafeteria I was greeted by two hot guys, Luke and Jackson.

“Hey Jessie looking fine today” said Jackson.

“Doesn’t she always” Luke replied. “So that’s all you two are going to do all day, look up at my ass?” I asked.

“So permission granted” Jackson replied.

I laughed and said “Anyway, I’m heading to lunch would you boys like to join me?” I asked.

“Sure miss cute ass” Luke replied jokily.

We decided to go off campus for lunch today. After Luke parked and got out to take a leak Jackson started back his flirting again. “You know when you smile I feel like I am in paradise.” I looked him up and down and said “Oh really, cause every time you smile I think I have lost a child in the future”.

He gave me a hurt look “Jeez Jess I was just joking around” he said sadly.

As I was about to say something luke came back and we all sat in silence on the way to K.F.C and back. I felt kind of bad but he can be annoying at times. I left the University about 7 and headed home. When I got home Mom was helping herself to a bottle of whiskey.

“Mom what are you doing again, drinking?”

“No eating” she replied sarcastically.

I gave her a disapproving look “No alcohol, what did your mentor say?” I asked grabbing the whiskey bottle from her hand and handed it over to Eric who was watching TV.

“I’m thirsty” she wined.

“Drink water” I said calmly.

She rolled her eyes and said “Fine” heading towards the refrigerator. “Mom I’m going out won’t be back till midnight.” I said.

Eric turned from the television and looked at me giving me a knowing look “Late night man-hunting again” Eric asked teasingly.

“No you goof I have a date” I replied pleasingly.

”So it is true?” he asked smirking.

“What’s true?” I asked with a raised eyebrow.

“That you and Mister hot shot are going out together” he said with a smirk still planted on his smug face.

“It’s just one single date and it is none of your business anyways” I replied.

“Sure it is” he replied.

“Whatever I’m gone” I said going through the front door.
