Crescent: The Beginning

Chapter 3

I woke up the next day in an unfamiliar bed feeling like shit from a bad hangover and to a room that I was completely foreign to. I rolled over on the right side of the bed and saw an unconscious figure lying down beside me. It was Nick.

I shook him “Nick, Nick, wake up” He opened his eyes.

“What is it?” I gave him a confused look and asked “Where are my clothes?”

“I don’t know” he said in a wry voice.

Suddenly there were footsteps heading up the stairs. “Nick, honey are you awake?” It was his mom.

He quickly jumped out of his bed, “Here” handing me his large black T-shirt and sweat shorts. “Go through the window” he ordered panicking. I didn’t even get the chance to protest so I quickly went through the window, hid behind a tree and quickly drew on the clothes he gave me. As I was heading home, Paisley and two other girls drove up and parked beside me.

“Umm what are you doing out here?” Paisley asked wearing her usual bitch face.

“I uh was walking , you know a morning walk” I replied lamely.

“Barefooted?” she asked eyebrows raised. Fiddlesticks curse my poor lying ability. One of the girls then pointed out.

“Isn’t that Nick’s shirt?” Shit they are getting suspicious I can’t let them catch on to my little dirty secret. Oh my gosh are you kidding me right now? Damn I’m sweating.

“No, my mom bought this for me.” I replied way too quickly for my liking.

“No I don’t think so, that’s Nick sweats shorts that I bought last week for his birthday with my signature on it.” The other girl said pointing at it. I was defeated, caught on the spot red handed but kept my face expressionless. I swore I saw Paisley’s left eye twitch.

“Jessie get in the car now!” she ordered through clenched teeth. I could see the fury in her dark ocean blue eyes. I didn’t even argue I just hopped into the car and sat in silence. As we drove off in speed Paisley asked “Did you sleep with him?” My hands began to tremble but I tried to remain calm.

“No I didn’t” I responded smoothly as possible.

“Don’t tell me shit I saw you coming from his house!” she said bitterly.

“So what is it to you?” I snapped back at her gaining a little bit of confidence. She had no right to be mad at me it’s not like Nick was with the little bitch anyway. Thank god he left her poor Nick I can imagine all the bull he had gone through.

“What is it to me?” she asked sharply making a swift U-turn around the corner hitting a girl in skinny jeans and a tank top with ruby slippers and dark sunglasses.

THUD!

“Oh Shit!” Paisley said hopping out of the car to look. We all trailed behind her.

“Oh my god Amanda!” I said with tears flowing down my eyes like a river. I felt like I was about to pass out and I was sweating again.

“Kacy go get the cloth in the trunk to wipe of the bloodstains on the front of the windscreen” ordered Paisley. Kacy took off to the back of the car.

“Chalie call an ambulance” shouted Paisley. I still stood in shock afraid to move or take my eyes off of Amanda’s now still body.

“Okay!” said Chalie taking out her phone from out of her pocket to phone an ambulance. “Hello there’s a girl…”.

Paisley then approached me “Jessie, listen all that has happened here today you can’t say a word to anyone okay not until I can sort some things out you got it?” she asked me in a serious tone. All I could do for the moment was nod still in complete shock of the incident that just took place a couple of minutes ago. Chalie then said “They are on there way over here!” she exclaimed.

“Everybody in the car now!” Paisley shouted. We quickly jumped into the car and drove off. She made a stop by the cliff, took out her lighter and burnt the cloth. When it was almost fully burnt she kicked it over the cliff. She got back in and we all sat in silence.

“To burn off all the evidence and to avoid prison” she said with a grin on her face. I felt like to smack it off after all that has happened she found it funny, right now I’m scared shitless and it’s because of her. When I got home it was ten minutes to eight. I guess my mom wasn’t awake yet. I went up to my room, laid down and stared off into space. I thought about everything that had taken place this morning and my mind went to Kacy, Chalie and Paisley. I imagined us four in court charged for first degree murder. Chalie and I got 2 years while Paisley got 25 and Kacy got 15. It would have been horrible and of the thought of Nick, had I really lost my virginity? What would my mother say when she realized I didn’t come back last night? What would Jackson think about this? Wait, why would I even care about Jackson’s opinion? Do I like Jackson as more than a friend? And since when did I start to have these types of feelings anyway? So many unanswered questions! Then there was a knock on my door.
