Dear People and Their Words

Dear people,
We need to reach an agreement on how much words weigh
Some people think they mean nothing

These people with their hollow terms,
They throw around their loves and hates like they're Mardi Gras beads
And I hate that

How am I supposed to give my thanks when such words go in one ear and out the other?

How am I supposed to say I love you when the meaning splits and frays from person to person?

Give me a second, I need to think

What if it's not the people's fault
What if...

Dear words,

You lie
You lead us to believe that you are all we have
That without you we would be lost

You whisper into our ears, telling us that we must read into things
Make assumptions
That if we don't, then we won't understand

But you're not our only resource, are you?

Dear Thankfulness,
Dear Hatred,
Dear Love,

To convey my thanks, I am to give back
To convey my hatred, I am to face it
To convey my love, I am to devote myself

Finally,
Dear people,

There will be times when you choke up
When your words have abandoned you and you don't know what to do, don't worry
We've got our actions too

Don't mind me uncomfortable cringing in the corner. If you are reading this, thanks. I don't expect much to come of it, but now I can say I've put it out there.

Love ya,
