It was dark by the time the girl woke up. Stella had just started to doze off. The girl woke with a gasp. Stella stirred. The girl panicked and ripped off the cords of the monitoring system. Stella got up from her seat and rushed to her.
"Easy. Easy. It's okay. I got you some help. You're at the Avengers Mansion Infirmary. We're going to help you out, Okay?"
"Who are you?" The girl asked.
"My name is Nashira. How are you feeling?"
"What is all this?" The girl asked gesturing at the cords and IV.
"The IV was to help flush the drug from your system. The cords are just a monitoring system."
"Did you take my blood?"
"No. Why would we?"
"That's why they were after me. For my blood."
"You too, huh? So you're a mutant?"
"Yes," The girl replied grudgingly.
"So am I. No need to worry. You're safe here."
"Thanks for helping back there by the way."
"Hey, it's no problem. It's what I do."
"I haven't kept up with the news. I didn't know you were an Avenger."
"I'm new, but can I get you anything? Is there anyone we can call, your parents maybe?"
"No. My parents kicked me out when they found out I was a mutant. My whole family abandoned me. I've been living on the streets since I was thirteen."
"Oh my- I'm so sorry."
The girl shrugged, "My name's Emily by the way."
"How long have they been chasing you?"
"Past few months."
"Wow, Emily. That's tough."
"Yeah. So what's your story?"
"Well, I lived on the streets like you. It's pretty crazy actually, but I just kinda popped up out of the blue about a year and a half ago- no family or anything- set on finding the Avengers. Well, I found them. Tony adopted me too. My luck's been good lately, but I've had my hard times too. I was sold into sex slave trade, captured twice- once by A.I.M. They wanted my blood too, and almost got it. Tortured me as well. It was a pretty shitty two days."
"No kidding? That's a pretty remarkable story."
"I'm serious. It all happened."
"I believe you. Hell, it's all possible with everything that's happened in my life."
"Yeah," Stella laughed.
"So can I go?"
"What? Um- the Avengers wanted to make sure you got somewhere safe."
"Where? I don't have a home to go to."
"I know, but- have you heard of the Xavier academy?"
"A school? No thanks."
"Yeah I wasn't too accepting of it either, but they help people like us, and they make sure you stay safe."
"Why don't I stay here instead?"
Stella grimaced, "It's pretty tough to get on the team these days."
"Yeah, well, a school ain't for me. I don't like to stick around much. I like to keep on the move. That's what's safe."
