I put my phone down and let it charge. Since I got home, I've been responding to many of Craig's messages. I'm so excited to get talking with him again.
I knock on Dad's door lightly. "Hey, you up?" I ask to no reply. I guess he's still asleep.
I check the time. It's 6 P.M. I check the fridge. "Oh, we have cookie dough." I mumble to myself.
I clean a baking pan and follow the instructions. I put the cookies in the oven and let them bake.
I go upstairs and dig into my closet. I found some white boots, black jeggings, a white undershirt, and an oversized [F/C] jacket.
I get dressed and got back downstairs. The cookies are ready. I put 3 on a plate and go back upstairs. I set the plate on Dad's dresser and look over at him.
He looks so peaceful, as if he has no worries in the world. It's as if he never left Mom and I.
He's my dad. Of course I love him, but... I can't forgive him for all our lost time.
I check the time. It's 7 P.M. already. I turn back and leave the room. I leave to my room.
I check my phone.
Craig <3: I'm on my way
can't wait to see you 😘I blush a little with a smile and grab my [F/C] purse. I put my phone, phone charger, and my wallet in my purse and go back downstairs.
I grab 3 more cookies and put them in a plastic container. Then my phone buzzed. I check it, it's Craig. He's almost here.
I hurry and put the rest of the cookies up and clean up a bit before I hear a knock at the door.
I fix my hair, put on my mask, and hurried to the door. "Hey Craig!" I greeted him as I opened the door.
"Hey." He smiled and gave me a side hug after he flipped me off. "You ready to go?" I nodded and followed him to his car.
"So, what are you carrying?" He asked as we got into the car. "Oh, just some cookies I made for you." He glanced over at me, was he blushing?
He looked away and started the car. I surfed through the radio until a certain song caught my eye. Lemon Boy by Cavetown was a relatable song for the situation I'm in with Craig, so I let it play.
As he drove, I look at the town I lived in as a teen. So much has changed. Everyone, every place, and every plant. It was strange taking it all in in one big gulp.
I looked over at Craig. He's even changed. He's more mature and kinder. I can remember how he was in highschool. He doesn't have that boyish nature to him anymore. It's like he's replaced it with masculinity. He's not cute anymore... he's handsomely hot.
I caught myself with my thoughts. I looked back out the window. My face was heating up. No- I don't have feelings for him anymore... No! No! No!
He pulled into the apartment complex parking lot. Crap, I have to get rid of this stupid blush!!
He stopped the car and got out. "Do you want me to carry your stuff?" He asked. "N-No, it's fine..." I got out and pulled my jacket over my cheeks.
"Are you alright?" He gave me a strange look. I nodded, "O-Oh, yeah, I'm fine, just a little cold." He shrugged and lead me to his apartment.
He unlocked the door and invited me inside. "Ladies first, Madame.~" He stupidly did a bow as I walked in.
I looked around. It was the basic setup, a couch, TV with a stand, a small kitchen, and a table. He had a few posters and pictures for personalization.
I set the cookies down on the table as Craig locks the door. "Sit down, you're a guest." He moved over onto the couch and patted a cushion that was next to him.
I took a seat and moved the jacket away from my face. "You know, it's funny. I was really nervous that you didn't want to come." I look over at him. "Why? Was it because of what happened senior year?" He nodded.
"None of it would've happened if I didn't let my feelings get the best of me." He looked away as he blushed slightly. "What feelings?"
"I really liked you."
My face heated up. Dammit, my blush was already gone! I took off my mask because at that point I couldn't take the heat.
"I-I liked you quiet a bit too..." I confessed to him. He looked back at me wide eyed. I was too embarrassed to look back at him.
His arms wrapped around my figure. It made me remember what happened at the party. I wasn't frozen this time. He grabbed my chin and looked into my eyes.
He wasn't drunk... it felt different.
He's serious.
