a/n: this chapter is very short for two reasons: one, we wanted to provide almost an 'interlude' between phases of the fic, like now the main plot is starting to pick up. We also wanted to post this early so we could make the next announcement (please read it!) Sorry about the length!

(PLEASE READ) Also, after the two of us stumbled across some fics on ao3 we discovered that people can really write Weird shit online and we want to make our stance clear on that moving forward. We do not at all support jonadio (or other ships between adopted siblings in general), dubcon or noncon, or ships with large age gaps. All of this stuff makes us very very uncomfortable. We want to make our stance clear on that because theres apparently a lot of that stuff online and we dont want to be associated with it. Thank you!

On a similar note, dio has a line in his narration that implies sexual assault, we do Not condone that. It is to show that he is an awful person and nothing else

Dio wasn't used to this. Ever since he had joined the Joestar household he had become accustomed to getting everything he wanted; even in poverty his intimidation and dark eyes would win him extra money or food. So Robert Speedwagon's resistance to his charm was both infuriating and unsettling. Jonathan was making the situation so much worse; Dio had expected him to try to protect his friend, but not like this. It was almost abnormal. It felt like Jonathan was trying...too much. And Robert had brushed him off with such ease once Jonathan had shown up, too, after being caught in Dio's charm. How could a best friend have that effect on someone? Dio had never encountered this before, even though he had had some less than eager partners. What was it that made Jonathan and Robert so responsive to each other? What was going on between—

Oh. Oh no. If couldn't be. It couldn't. It had to be something else. It wasn't...possible. Robert he could see, that made a bit of sense—but Jonathan? Gentleman, proper, only-ever-had-one-love-and-it-was-a-woman Jonathan? Not that Jonathan couldn't, per say; Dio wasn't dumb enough to believe that it was impossible to swing both ways (he knew a bit about that himself). But this was Jonathan: the man who blushes at the suggestion of anything sexual, who treated a kiss like some sort of engagement—it just didn't add up in Dio's head. Robert was more plausible. After all, he had had no qualms with Dio flirting quite vigorously with him. But then Jonathan had come in seeming all protective and Robert had left with him so easily, despite never mentioning a partner in conversation, and Robert wasn't that kind of person, right? And Jonathan hadn't said anything—

Holy shit.

The two idiots were in love with each other, and neither of them had realized.
