Chapter 13: Weaknesses

"Alright. Here's what I know. Currently all 5 walls, including the palace walls, have weakened tremendously. They couldn't be maintained as the wizards who created them are long dead, and their knowledge on how to fix it seems to have went with them on their graves. Here are some of my notes."

He said as he showed her some notes he had taken on his observations of the walls. The note he showed her read:

Wall of Seferno- the wall that protects the castle. Every brick of the palace walls has been soaked with the magic that protects it from dragons. The walls of the palace is literally the wall of Seferno.

11th day, Month of Seferno, Year of the Goddess Trathina

I was walking along the hallways of the palace, when I heard a low, crinkling sound coming from the walls. I inspected it closely and laid my hand on one of the bricks that made it's walls. It was there that I felt it. The magic of Seferno was waning. I closed my eyes and used magic to see the spells that were written by Seferno and there I saw that my theory was right. A web like crack could be seen using magic though not with the naked eye. I wondered as to how long has this been happening? And...if the wall of Seferno is not the only wall that was in danger.

Wall of Marok - the wall that separates the rich from the palace. It is the wall outside the palace.

29th day, Month of Seferno, Year of the Goddess Trathina

I ventured outside the palace and inspected the wall of Marok. I closed my eyes and used a spell to reveal the true state of the magic force field that was casted many years ago. What I saw revealed my worst fear and gave more proof to my theory. The wall of Marok was weakened as well.

Wall of Ruluio-the wall that separates the rich from middle class.

37th day, Month of Seferno, Year of the Goddess Trathina

I am nearing the two other walls that are closer to the outside world and it seems that every wall is making me more worried than the last. The wall of Ruluio is weakened as well. I know that it is a foolish hope, but I wished that at least one, even one wall in all 5 could be at least functional.

Wall of Garuh-the wall that separates the middle class from the poor.

44th day, Month of Seferno, Year of the Goddess Trathina

I prayed to the gods and goddesses above that a least this wall..this wall can still hold up. This is the wall where my cousin is currently residing in. The wall she is currently relying on for protection. But, when I layed my hand on the wall and checked it, it was also greatly weakened. I need to inform my cousin of this immediately. She needs to leave the Wall of Garuh and return to the palace. She has to....

Wall of Omire-the wall that separates the poor from the outside world.

50th day, Month of Seferno, Year of the Goddess Trathina

The last wall. As I stepped nearer towards it, my gut was already telling me the results. And yet, I didn't want to hear it. I still checked. And there I was, laying my hands on the wall, casting the spell and at the same time praying, hoping, and yet...it was no use to have hoped that the results could've been different. All 5 walls are greatly weakened. If a dragon attempts to break the walls, it will topple and there would be nothing they could do to stop it if it did.

Gate of Merhu- connected to the magic of the wall of Omire. The only entrance in and out the kingdom. Has a magical force field at the bridge and the gate entrance.

1st day, Month of Marok, Year of the Goddess Trathina

I stared at the tremendous Gate of Merhu before me. Yesterday, I have checked the Wall of Omire and found that all 5 walls were weak. I had sent a letter to Ilara previously, informing her of the matter. She didn't want to go of course, but she's always been so stubborn. I know I am too. Which is why, I will stop at nothing to try and convince my father that we need to fix this. Or else....it might be too late.
