Party.

Party.

Party.

My eyes quickly flickered over the text that Calum sent me: " Party tonight at Mai's! You down?"

I haven't been to a party since That Summer:

The sound of blood rushing through my ears seemed to over power the bass of the techno music that thumped throughout the house. Blood boiling, I stumbled through the corridor, struggling to keep my grip on reality and the wall as my vision blanked in and out. I was at a state where I wanted to slam her head repeatedly against to concrete for shoving narcotics down my throat.

My vision finally cut back in after 10 terrifying seconds and all I could see was the blurry figures of two males, the taller one, who faintly resembled Michael, aggressively moving his hands inside the other's pants, soft moans coming from the smaller, curly haired one as his partner increased the pace. I watched them for a few seconds before scrunching up my nose and continued to move down the never ending hall. I managed to walk 1, 2, 3 yards before a thud and the faint sound of a feminine voice calling my name reached my ears.

"Luke! Lucas, answer me!" My eyes popped open and were met with tear filled ones. I took in my surroundings and realized I was still in my room, but I was lying on the floor.

"Oh, my baby. What happened this time?" My mother suffocated me into her bosom, loose tears wetting my hair and shirt. These episodes happened on multiple occasions. Mostly during breaks, where I didn't have school to occupy my thoughts.

"C-C-Cal p-party. I-I." I tried to say before I began to hyperventilate

"Calm down, baby, it's okay. I'm here." She just held me in her arms until my breathing returned to regular.

"Calum invited me to a party. I can't do it, Mom. We-we made a promise that I would never go again and I would never pick up a vodka bottle again and I would never get involved with other people's problems andandand-" My breathing hitched and I had to stop myself before I passed out again.

"I know sweetie, I know."

We just sat there in silence, me trying to recollect my mind and my mom. Oh god, my mom. I put her through an unbearable amount of pain That Summer. I remember sitting in the bathroom, barely conscious as Jack and Calum shoved their fingers down my throat, while my mother frantically screamed at the 911 dispatcher. I remember the look on her face when she told me she was afraid I wouldn't wake up. But most importantly, I remember the last thing she told me that night; "knowing the past and keeping the past helps us shape the future and keep past disasters from repeating."

"Mom." I removed myself from her embrace and reached my hand down to pull her up to her standing height. "I'm going to that party."

After 15 minutes of coaxing and and another 45 minutes of lecturing, we stood in front of Mai's home.

"Are you sure about this, man?" Calum asked me, once again. My mother had reminded him of my little incident, hand gestures and ear yanking included, so he was being extra cautious about this. I wasn't the only one who had a bad summer.

"Now, Hood, if he wasn't positive about this, would he be here?" A third voice intervened. Michael clapped a hand on each of our shoulders and we made our way into the house.

"Please don't drink tonight." I told them both. They nodded and we parted ways.

An hour later and the party was in full swing. I stayed in a secluded part of the huge living room, not really wanting to be around too many intoxicated people. I only had a couple of sodas but I had an overwhelming feeling to dance. I was total shit at it, but that doesn't mean I can't enjoy it. I made my way onto the dance floor as Carryout began to play, looking for somebody mildly interesting to dance with. A pair of hands grabbed me from behind and pulled me flush against their body. I began to move, not bothering to check who it was.

"Hey there, sexy." Calum said in my ear as we swayed to the beat. "So you just let random people grab you up from behind, Lukey? I thought I taught you better than that." He joked.

"Have you been drinking?" I ask, nervousness laced in my voice.

"I promised I wound't, right?" He answered, sucking lightly on my neck. Despite not being in the mood for Calum, I involuntarily tilted my neck back and let out a soft moan. "I never break my promises, Luke, you know that."

Calum was very serious about promises. His sister promised him that she would be back to take him to get a new bass, but before she could make it home, a 18 wheeler smashed into her car, killing her instantly. Since then, whenever he's made a promise, he kept it.

"Yeah, but-"

"I know how you feel about these things, Luke. But Michael, I don't know how well he followed your request." He said the last part low as if he didn't want me to hear. I just sighed and turned around, wrapping my hands around his neck as the song changed.

"When does he ever listen to what we tell him?"

"True." He laughed. After a moment of silence, he spoke up again. "Hey Luke? Do you ever think what it's like to get off while watching other people be intimate with each other?"

"What kind of question is that?" I said, furrowing my eyebrows.

"Look." He turned me around by my waist, my eyes landing on the people in the far corner of the room. "Do you see that guy with the curly hair?" He questioned, causing me to nod. "He's been watching us for the past 15 minutes. Think he wants to join in on the festivities?"

Something about him captivated me. His mind consisted of random drunken thoughts. Ranging from "I really hope I don't walk in on anymore people having sex" to "I wonder how often they have sex with each other."

"Um, Cal. I'm gonna go to the bathroom." I say.

"You're going to talk to him, aren't you?" He replied, smirking.

"Maybe."
