"Where's Jeff?"
So much had happened in the next few weeks. From a street fight to a terrible accident and here you were in the hospital sitting by Liu, staring into his bloodshot, empty eyes. "He's in some room own the hall. They wouldn't let any of us go inside yet. All I know is that those kids set him on fire, and he's left with severe burns across one side of his face." he told you as you watched tears fall down the boy's freckled face. "At least you're back. But... those boys are going to get put in jail, right? House arrest? Something?" The lack of explanation coming from Liu made it feel like all hope had been lost forever.
Liu and his brother had gotten in a fight With a boy about their age, Randy and his two bitches, Keith, and Troy, the day after they hung out on the roof. Liu was sent over to spend time at his strict aunt's house until Jeff agreed to make peace with Randy. Of course, things didn't go as planned when Randy grabbed a flare gun, as Keith and Troy held Jeff back. Within seconds, Jeff's sanity was gone, along with half his face.
Your mind wandered watching people pass by, walking in and out the doors of the hospital, into the outside air. It was so early in the morning when your parents agreed o drive you over to see Jeff and try your best to comfort Liu. The sun was finally in the center of the sky when doctors came to call in Jeff's parents. You watched Liu's eyes widen, as he stood up asking the nurse if Jeff was coming home. Jeff had been medicated and was able to stay at his own home after his long night in the hospital. You were indeed happy that he was well enough to go back so soon, in fact, it seemed like a miracle to you, but you were worried about Liu's parents. They didn't seem in the right state of mind. You heard them arguing earlier.
"People are going to stare at him!" "Nobody will want to talk to him!" "He won't look normal!"
You couldn't help but wonder why on earth Jeff's life didn't come first to mind. They were his parents after all. You could always tell Mr. and Mrs. Woods weren't too concerned with their son's lives, but it just didn't seem right to you. Jeff was getting his bandages taken off, and all you could think about was his mental health, and Liu, who was stuck in the middle of this all. If this somehow made his relationship with his parent's even worse, who knows what would happen to your friends. Your headshot up when you heard Liu begin to speak.
"Y/n, it's time for us to go back. He'll be alright, he put on some new bandages." Liu spoke with a shaky voice. You muttered back "Will you guys be okay?" Liu didn't answer. His curly, brown hair was a matted down to his pale face. It looked like he hadn't slept in days. The look on his face was almost haunting. You heard numerous footsteps as the rest of the Woods family, including Jeff, who was being helped by a doctor, walked past you towards the doors. None of them except Liu, looked back at you one last time, before walking out.
You got up, ready to call your parents to get them to pick you up. There was one thing you couldn't stop thinking about. It was like a chain was being pulled around in your mind. "Something bad is going to happen..."
