Elena's POV
"No way! I don't believe it. You know, you should thank me." I hear Bonnie say, as I'm putting on a hoodie. We've been on FaceTime for about half an hour now. "Yes way. And no, I don't think so. I barely know him, Bon." I reassure her as she shakes her head.
"Watch. You guys will end up falling in love or something." She says as I laugh. "No, definitely not. I check the time as it says 11:57. "Shit! Bonnie, I'll call you later. Stefan's picking me up at 12:00. Love you." "Love you t-" I hang up, interrupting her. I feel bad but, whatever.
I sigh and put my hair in a messy bun once again. I don't know why but, I'm really nervous. I'm nervously playing with my fingers, checking the time every few second. Just as I'm about to lay down, I hear a honk outside.
I shoot up, running down the stairs. "Uh, bye dad!" I shout, making my way outside. "Bye sweetie! Be safe!"
I see Stefan sitting in his red car. Woah. I did not know those things even existed anymore. I wave nervously, looking down. I make my way towards his car, opening the door and sitting down. I inhale the smell of air fresher from the unfamiliar car. "Hey." He says as I clear my throat. "Hi." I reply shyly.
Damn it, Elena. Why are you so nervous? "You ready?" He asks as I nod. He's chewing gum as I ask "Have I seen you around school?" I had already graduated but maybe there was a chance he went to school with me and I didn't know? "No, I recently moved here again and I already graduated."
"Cool." I reply back. Cool? Seriously? "Are your parents here too?" I ask as he laughs and shakes his head. No, uh, it's just me and my brother, Damon. My parents weren't really good ones."
He breaks the silence by asking "What about your parents?" I look up, my eyes widening. "Uh, my mom died when I was eleven.. it's just my brother, Jeremy, my dad and I." He looks at me, frowning. I don't know why I do that. Why I kill the mood.
"I'm so sorry, Elena." I shake my head, tears filling my eyes. "It's fine, really. I've learned to move on." He nods as I look out the window, admiring all of Mystic Fall's sights.
He parks in the parking lot of a nearby Grocery store. I open my eyes, squinting them as he laugh. "Good morning." He says as I shake my head, putting my hands over my face. I feel my cheeks redden as he laughs.
"I'm so sorry. How long was asleep for?" I ask as I fix my hair. "Uh, not long. Probably..ten minutes." He assures me as I clear my throat. "Are you ready?" He asks as I nod.
We're walking in to the store. I look up as he grabs a cart and I ask "Why did you invite me, Stefan?" I ask, genuinely curious. "I don't know, Elena. Guess I just wanted to see if that number was fake." He laughs as I laugh too.
I give him a playful shove as he pretends to be hurt "You're mean." He says, smiling at me and I roll my eyes. "Shut up." I look down, smiling. He laughs before he ask's "See?". I look up, shaking my head.
"Whatever you say." I comment as he looks at his phone. "Mm, could you grab Orange Juice?" He ask's as I nod. I smile to myself, feeling like an idiot for smiling so much. There's something about him that just makes me.. happy.
I place it down in the cart, looking up at him. He looks away, acting as if he wasn't looking at me. "What?" I ask as he looks down. "Nothing." He reply's as I shrug my shoulders.
"Okay, what's next?" I ask, breaking the silence. It wasn't an awkward silence, it was just.. silence. "Eggs. I can make a great omelette." He comments as I look at him, shaking my head.
"I didn't think of you as a cook." I say as his eyes widen. "Yeah, people say that. Guess I just learned how to take care of myself." I nod as he asks "Can you cook?"
"Not at all." He gives me the 'for real?' face as I laugh. "Are you hungry? You can always get something." He asks as I reply "I don't have money on me right now." I tell him while shaking my head. "I was planning on you paying for it, anyway."
I look at him, a little shocked. ""What are you being so good to me, Stefan?" I ask with a soft voice. "Why can't I just be good to you?" He smirks and I blush a little.
"Now, are you hungry or not?"
