Lexie
People think when you come from wealth, it entitles you to everything without worries. While some kids act this way, I don't, and neither do my siblings. Our parents raised us to appreciate people.
My parents believed in earning items. Even though Dad prefers to indulge us, Mom stops him. Both contradict each other, but they love each other. Dad is protective of Mom and us. I don't know all the details, except for an incident when I was an infant. I didn't ask since it's moot at this point. Why bring up a past, I don't recall?
I would instead focus on the here and now, including senior year. I had a feeling this year would strengthen me in ways I never imagine and bring me, love.
I finished dressing and fixing my uniform, then stared in the mirror as I made a face. I hated wearing a school uniform. It sucked. The school we attended required uniforms. They felt it would keep kids from bullying others based on clothing choices. That doesn't stop bullying. Kids will be mean no matter what.
"Lexie? Are you almost ready?" Mom asked, walking into my room.
"Yeah, but I hate this outfit," I groaned. Mom chuckled.
"Your dad prefers it," Mom mentioned as I gave her an are you out of your mind' look. "It's because it keeps the boys away."
"First, ew and second, after Charlie, I doubt I will date for a long time," I told her.
"Lexie, Charlie was an immature leech who thought you are easy in with your father. It's a learning experience," Mom reminded me.
I looked at her, knowing she's right. Charlie breaking up with me was a blessing in disguise, especially after what Quinn told me. Quinn was my best friend and hated Charlie. She was a no-nonsense type of person who prefers quality over quantity.
Quinn hated most kids at school and attended because of a scholarship she received. We were from two different social classes but clicked with our personalities. I couldn't wait to see her since I was in Spain most of the summer with my family.
Mom and I walked downstairs to have breakfast while Dad was making breakfast. Landon and Valeria were bickering about something.
"Listen, I will not tell you again to stop bickering. Ever since you both came downstairs, it's been nonstop," Dad told both as I grabbed a juice out of the fridge. He gave me a look, and I rolled my eyes before kissing his cheek. My dad was cheesy and made it a point.
Mom kissed Dad before helping him with breakfast. It was a typical day at home with us.
After breakfast, Ryan picked us up and drove us to school. I didn't want to stand out by having a bodyguard. Dad and I argued, I won, and Ryan acted like family even though he is family. He was your typical Uncle dropping his nieces and nephews off at school.
We got out of the car and walked into school. My brother and sister took off to meet up with their friends. I went to find Quinn, who was at her locker, which was next to mine.
"Look at what the cat dragged in," Quinn teased as I rolled my eyes.
I opened my locker. "It's not my fault my parents dragged me to Spain," I told her.
"I'm sure the hot Spanish guys made the trip worse," Quinn remarked. I laughed and shook my head. "Don't look now, but Asher Hayes is checking you out."
I glance to see Asher with his buddies, laughing while checking me out. I rolled my eyes.
Asher was a prominent student and senior at school. His parents are wealthy but not as wealthy as mine are. He's also a douche with a capital D.
"Asher can look all he wants. It means nothing," I replied as I closed my locker. Guys like Asher are rude and condescending, especially if you weren't rich. My parents raised us better than that. They didn't believe in freebies or entitlement, and neither did I.
Quinn and I walked by Asher and his cronies on the way to class.
"Hey, Powers," Asher called as I kept walking. I ignored him as he reached out and grabbed my ass. I swung around and smacked him as his cronies ooh and ahh.
Asher grabbed my wrist and yanked me to him.
"Feisty, I like it," Asher smirked as I glared at him, then pushed him off of me. "You wait, Powers, you will be mine," Asher yelled. I raised my hand and flipped him off.
I know Dad would reprimand me, telling me it wasn't ladylike, but I didn't care. Asher wasn't a gentleman.
"Well, it's official," Quinn said.
"What is?" I asked her.
"Live long, King Douche," Quinn remarked as I laughed. We went to class as Asher plotted with his buddies about nailing me.
"Dude, you will never get a chance with Lexie," one guy said.
"Oh, I got plans for Lexie. She doesn't know it," Asher smirked as they went to class.
If I could avoid Asher, that would be great, but I had a feeling he wouldn't let that happen. That's my luck.
I walked into class and saw Charlie, who was cozying up to the school slut. I love private school. You have the same people that are in public school but are pretentious assholes. I will be happy to graduate and go to college, then go to work with my parents.
Now I need to survive school with little issue. I doubt that would happen.
