Alexis
We stopped at some random coffee house I had never heard of before, and sat at small table in the corner. In all honesty, I wasn’t really that hungry. I just didn’t want to go home. My dad had sent me a text on our way to the school saying he had to go meet with some of his boring, tight-suit wearing clients or something.
Luckily for me, he had to go all the way to Springfield. So based off my research and past experiences, it takes about two hours to get there, he probably won’t be done with his meeting until around eight, so he won’t be back home until ten o’clock tonight. Maybe Zach saving me from Tyler was destiny. He seemed like he trusted me and wasn’t annoyed by me, so why not take the chance to get back into town. I wasn’t just using him for that either, there was something about him that made me want to stay with him. It’s like what Connor said; I want to be with him for a while.
He ordered us both a coffee and the set the book in the middle of the table with the stone on top of it.
“How are we supposed to figure anything out if we can’t read the book?” I asked.
“I can do it.” He said.
“What?” I met his eyes and they looked tired.
It wasn’t like we hadn’t slept last night, but sleeping a hard bedroom wall probably didn’t make out for the most comfortable sleeping.
“I mean, I don’t know if it’ll work but it should. I did it by myself when I was alone yesterday, so it shouldn’t effect you.” He pulled the book closer to himself and handed me the necklace.
“You don’t have to.” I shook my head, I didn’t want him to.
“We have to figure something out so this can be over with. We can’t just sit here at this dead end with the little bit of information we have. Which is nothing.” He said.
“If you really want too.” I sighed.
He whispered the words and his body jolted stiff. His eyes slammed shut and then opened, that red orange color. I guess since my eyes weren’t in the same state I couldn’t see his normal eye color like I could before. He grabbed the book and pulled it open, flipping through the pages faster than I thought possible. He was holding the book so tight his arm muscles were flexed, all the way from his fingertips to his shoulders. His hands were a pale white color when he suddenly stopped and took a big gasp of breath.
He calmed down and looked down at the blank page.
“It’s just that flower with the freedom words on it.” He said.
I looked down at the page knowing I wouldn’t be able to see anything and I watched him flip farther into the book of blank pages.
“Wait a second.” He stopped flipping and looked up at me.
“You said your ex…”
“Tyler.” I finished.
“Tyler was looking for a stone right?” he said grabbing the necklace.
My eyes widened and I locked my eyes on it.
“Did he say there was a certain name for it?” he asked.
“Something like a Sun god stone.” I muttered.
“That’s what this is.” He said.
“No way.” I gasped.
“Well we have to get rid of it-“
“What? We can’t get rid of this, I don’t know how but this is gonna help us but it will. Don’t you want all this crazy magic junk to end?” he set the necklace down on the table.
