Alexis
Before we went into the city, we went back to his apartment and tried to figure things out ourselves. The main place to get information was the book, but the only way to read it was to say the magic words and die for a few minutes. My reaction this time was worse than when we were at the library with Connor. Maybe it was because I did it by myself. I told Zach he didn't have to do it since he did it earlier but I guess I feel better when he does it with me. I said Alesa Morenav and automatically instead of the short pants of breath it was like I was choking. I literally couldn't breathe and my heart felt like it was going to explode. Zach, being the hero he was, quickly said the words grabbing my hand and I felt a million times better.
We read farther into the book on the pages that were supposed to be blank and found a map. I looked it up on my phone and it was a small antique shop in the heart of the city. It was like Zach knew where we were supposed to go before we read it. The book was saying things in that whole philosophical way, making everything sound like it had a deep message. Besides the "Free her and free yourself" quote, it also said "Your soul has one true identity that is often masked by the heart of your mind". I didn't know how either of these helped us but Zach seemed to have full confidence.
Now it was around eight o'clock and we were leaving behind our little town that was about as exciting as a library, heading towards one of the biggest most exciting cities in the country. The moment would have been perfect if I could've stopped thinking of Tyler. The memory of him almost killing me in that alley less than forty-eight hours ago haunted me like the old Scooby-Doo reruns I used to watch when I was elementary school.
Ok well, maybe I still watched them now. Tyler had never really interacted with me after we broke up. It was like he had disappeared. But I had a feeling that's only because my dad told him to. He was smart enough to give it a little break and then come back with full force. Now that I knew what he wanted and it was magic, I could feel it in my guts that he was already coming back for me.
"Are you lost?" I asked suddenly becoming aware of our surroundings.
We were riding down streets I had never been down before and it was brighter than the route I had taken before.
"This is another way to get into town. Tyler knew where you were last time and going that same route probably wouldn't be smart. Even though being you're superhero was pretty fun." He said.
I let out a small laugh and thought about what he said. He really has been my superhero for the past few hours. We just met and I already felt safe around him. I trusted him with my life and he's proven to me that he's completely worthy of that.
I looked down at the ground for the first time since we had gotten on the bike and the ground looked farther away than usual. I peeked my head around Zach's shoulders and screamed.
"Oh my gosh! What the he- we are floating! Floating! Zach!" I screamed practically jumping on his back.
"A little late," he laughed, "we've been doing that for awhile."
How had I not noticed that earlier? My arms were wrapped around his shoulders and I buried my face in the crook of his neck.
"You were fine before." He slowed down the flying motorcycle and I peered up from off of his shoulder.
"I didn't realize it before. Are we almost there yet?" I muttered.
"Ten minutes." He turned down another street and then I realized there were no other cars on the road.
How convenient. We were coming up to the towering skyscrapers and bright lights and the flying motorcycle started to float down to the ground. We landed without making a sound and fell in behind other cars and cabs and the city came into full view.
