"KATHERINE!"

Katherine's heart pounded heavily in her chest as her blood ran cold. The breath in her lungs was knocked out.

Everything seems to move in slow motion as the lycan runs at her full speed rage in its eyes.

"This is the end," Katherine whispered to herself as she closed her tear-filled eyes, embracing death.

BANG! BANG!

"ARRRGGGHHH!"

Katherine stood frozen eyes still close with hands balled in a tight fist.

"ARRRGGGHHH!"

Another scream reached Katherine's ears. She slowly opened her eyes once she realized she was still standing and...unharmed?

She looked in front of her to see the wolf gone, but felt no relief as she felt a presence behind her. Hot, irony breath tickle her neck as the lycan stood close behind her.

"Katherine." A familiar voice whispered in her ear. Katherine closed her eyes tightly in fear. The sudden feeling of a heavy hand resting on her shoulder caused her jump.

"Katherine." He repeated. She could hear footsteps move in front of her despite the chaos going on around her. "Open your eyes, mate."

Katherine's heart dropped at that word. Mate. Hesitantly and fearfully she opened her eyes as she knew she could not stay like this forever.

Her eyes widen in horror at the sight before. She felt as if she was going to faint.

There stood a man, no lycan covered in blood with a grin plastered on his face.

"X-Xerous?" Katherine could barely speak.

"Sorry..." He said, approaching her. "...but, she was trying to kill me and we can't have that." He said smirking.

"W-What?"

Katherine slowly turned behind her. A loud scream escaped Katherine's lips as she saw her old friend, a friend she had since they were in pre-school.

There laid a decapitated Bri lying on the ground with blood squirting from her body with guts spewed from her stomach. Her eyes were wide as well as her mouth. The gun still in her hand.

"Besides, I just saved her from a terrible fate. I mean. Do you seriously think Demos would have let her live before he tortures her?" Xerous whispered in her ear.

Rage filled Katherine as she turned to slap Xerous across the face.

Xerous barely flinched at the impact. He just smirked at her amused.

"YOU MURDERING BASTARD! HOW COULD YOU?!" She yelled tear flooding her eyes.

A hint of sympathy briefly flickered in eyes but was soon gone. He opened his mouth to speak but was halted at another familiar voice.

"Katherine!"

Her and Xerous turned to see the one and only Demos standing there. He had a look on his face that Katherine has never seen since her time with him. A look of relief and joy.

Demos quickly began making his way toward them when Xerous began to speak. "Brother, I told you I will find her for you," Xerous said, stepping forward.

Demos glanced at him for a moment then nodded in response. He moved around Xerous and stood before Katherine. He looked at her longingly as he placed a hand on her cheek. "Katherine."
