''I have to tell you something.''

''What is it, [Y/N]?''

''I can't tell you over the phone.''

''I'm really busy,-''

''Please, it's important.''

''[Y/N, I won't be in Konoha until next Saturday, just tell me now.''

''I'm pregnant.''

''...''

''Hello?''

Kakashi's eyes roamed over the various sized bottles, going over the choices he had in his head. The cool breeze of the convenience store was a pleasant freshener from the hot summer heat outside. Once his eyes set sight on a particular bottle of sake, he greedily opened the refrigerator doors and set the bottle in his already overflowing basket of fruits and vegetables.

He was about to move toward another aisle when he felt something weighing down on his foot, stopping him from moving any further. Looking down, his eyes set on a pair of big [E/C] ones staring up at him. A pacifier was being sucked on between its lips, making an annoying snacking noise throughout the store.

Kakashi was able to verify that it was, in fact, a baby clinging onto his leg.

''Yes?'' Kakashi asked, not really expecting an answer. After staring at the boy for a few more seconds, (he tried to intimidate him with his eyes) and seeing that he had no plan on moving, Kakashi took a more risky course of action. Shaking his foot lightly, he tried to wiggle out of the tight hold he was trapped in, only, his plan soon backfired on him as he felt himself lose his footing. Grasping onto the handle of the fridge door to stabilise himself, he let out a breath of relief. The grip on his leg didn't falter throughout the tiny crisis, it actually tightened.

Kakashi not quite knowing what to do, looked around for anybody the baby might belong to. When he found nobody in the aisle he was in, he let out an exaggerated sigh and looked back down at the baby below him. His eyes softened. He did hold a soft spot for children, he would never openly admit that to anybody, but to himself, he could.

One day he would like to father a child of his own. He was getting old, it needed to happen soon. (Soon being in 5 to 10 years, he wasn't that old.) And maybe he could also find himself a good wi-

''Tadao, there you are,'' your voice broke Kakashi out of his child-fever thoughts.

Rounding the corner of the aisle, he watched you bend down in front of his shoes and pry the boy off his leg. It took a few tugs but eventually Tadao, as you had called him, let go of his pants. Instead, Tadao wrapped his arms around your neck and hooked his legs onto your abdomen. You rested a hand under his little bum to support him and gave the tail connected to his panda onesie a little tug, getting his attention back on you.

''Don't go running off like that, or crawling- Whatever, It doesn't matter. Next time stay by my side, okay?'' You looked into his eyes with a pointed look, expecting him to fully understand your scolding. Tadao stared back with a blank look in his eyes, probably not taking in a word you said.

Looking back up to the man Tadao had decided to bother, you gave him a tired smile. ''I'm sorry about that. He likes to cling onto things he likes and then not let go, it's a phase he's going through. Hopefully,'' you muttered the last bit to yourself.
