The Reckoning

I wake up to see Nik breaking Tyler's neck in the gym of my high school. I get up and rum to his side.
   "Oh my god. Tyler..." I say as tears come to my eyes.
  "Don't worry, love. He's just in transition." Klaus tells me.
   "But all of your hybrids died." I say and look back down at Tyler and Caroline takes my place as I stand up. I look around and see Matt, Elena, Bonnie, and Hunter all standing up.
   "Well, if Bonnie starts working, hopefully he won't." He tells me and walks to the other side of the gym with Rebekah.
   "He killed him." Matt says.
   "He's not dead. Klaus' blood will turn him into a vampire." Elena says.
   "And if Bonnie is successful, he'll live through his transition. Go on, then.  Go and fetch your grimoires and enchantments and what-not. I'll hold on to Elena... for safe-keeping." He tells us and Elena nods but I don't move.
   "Phoebe, go with them." Elena tells me.
   "No, not until you let me explain." I say towards Klaus.
   "I don't have time. I have to keep my eyes on the doppelgänger." He tells me.
   "Rebekah's here. She can watch Elena while we talk over there." I tell him pointing to the other side of the gym. "Please, just let me explain." I plead with him and he eventually nods and we walk to the other side of the gym.
  "When I left with you... It started out as a way to keep you from finding out about Elena." I tell him and he scoffs and looks away. "But I actually started to like you." I tell him making him look back to me. "Every time I kissed you, it was real. I actually liked you. I mean yeah, you're a raging ass sometimes, and you don't know when to stop. But.. to me, your kind, and your sweet and except or the fact that you killed my aunt, I like everything about you." I told him. "And I know that you love me because you've known me for like a thousand years, I'm not ready to say that to you yet. But, I do like you." I tell him.
    "You're telling the truth." He says and he looks shocked.
    "Yes! Why would I lie? So we're good again?" I ask him.
    "Klaus.." Stefan walks into the gym and over to us.
   "Come to save your damsel mate?" Klaus asks him.
  "I came to ask for your forgiveness and pledge my loyalty." He says.
  "Well you broke that pledge once already." Klaus tells him.
  "Elena means nothing to me anymore. And whatever you ask of me... I will do." Stefan tells him.
   "Fair enough. Let's drink on it." He says walking away from me and towards my sister and the two kids. "Kill them. What are you waiting for? Kill them." He tells Stefan.
   "No! Stefan, don't. He's not going to hurt me. He already said-- ahh!" She starts but Klaus slaps her, hard. Then Stefan goes in to attack Klaus when I go to see if Elena is ok. She nods and I help her stand up.
   "She means nothing to you. Your lies just keep on piling up." Klaus says holding Stefan by the neck.
   "Just let her go. I'll do whatever you want. You have my word." Stefan says.
   "Your word doesn't mean much. I lived by your word all summer during which time I never had to resort to this-- stop fighting." He says compelling Stefan.
   "Don't do this. Don't do this." Stefan pleads.
   "I didn't want to. All I wanted was your allegiance. Now I'm going to have to take it. You will do exactly as I say, when I say it. You will not run, you will not hide, you will simply just obey. Now kill them. Ripper." He tells Stefan and then he does.
   "It's always nice to see a vampire in his true element. The species has become such a broody lot." Klaus tells Elena and I turn away so I don't have to watch Stefan kill them.
  "No, you did this to him." Elena says.
   "I invited him to the party, love. He's the one dancing on the table." Klaus tells her and the Rebekah comes bursting in.
   "Where is it?" Rebekah asks.
   "What are you talking about?" Klaus asks.
   "She has my necklace. Look." She says handing the phone to Klaus. I move over to look at the phone, too.
   "Well, well. More lies." Klaus says.
   "Wait, the necklace that Stefan gave you is Rebekah's necklace?" I ask. "Why can't anything be freakin simple?" I ask out loud.
  "Where is.. it?" Rebekah asks.
"I don't have it anymore." Elena tells her.
  "You're lying!" Rebekahs screams her veins coming under her eyes and she goes and bites her neck.
   "Knock it off." Klaus tells Rebekah as he pulls her off.
   "Make her tell me where it is, Nik!" She yells at him.
   "Where's the necklace, sweetheart? Be honest." Klaus tells her.
   "I'm telling the truth. Katherine stole it." Elena tells him.
   "That bitch." I mumble and Rebekah and Klaus look at me in amusement. "What?" I ask and they just look away.
   "Katerina. Of course. Well, that's unfortunate. If we had the necklace it would make things a whole lot easier for your witch, but since were doing this the hard way. Let's out a clock on it, shall we?" He says and walks to the scoreboard keyboard and sets it to 20 minutes. If Bonnie hasn't found the solution by then I want you to feed again. Only this time, I want you to feed on Elena. You know you want to." He tells Stefan.
   "No, Klaus! Don't do this to him!" Elena pleads.
   "No one leaves. If she tries to run, fracture her spine." He tells Rebekah about Elena and he grabs my arm for me to come with him.
   "You don't needs to drag me. I'll go with yo willingly." I tell him and he releases my arm slightly but still holds onto my wrist. We wonder the halls until we come upon Matt and Bonnie talking by the pool.
    "She said she had a message for you. From the witch who put the hybrid curse on Klaus. She said that Elena shouldn't have survived Klaus' ritual. The hybrids can't transition because Elena's still alive." Matt tells her and I look over to Klaus.
   "Tyler..."
   "He's going to die, isn't he?" Matt asks.
  "I wouldn't be too sure about that. Given the choice doppelgänger or hybrid I go hybrid every time." He says and then he goes to drag me off to the gym. On our way there we run into Elena.
   "We've got to stop meeting like this." He tells her snd then drags her pff to the cafeteria me following a little behind. "Now this is fascinating. I've never seen this before. The only thing stronger than your craving for blood is your love for this one girl. Why don't you turn it off?" He asks him.
   "No!"
   "Come on. Your humanity is killing you. All that guilt must be exhausting. Turn it off." He says again.
   "No!"
   "You're strong. But you're not that strong. Turn.. It.. Off.." He tells him.
   "No!"  
   "Turn it off!" He screams and compels him.
   "What did you do?" Elena asks.
   "I fixed him. And I think a test is in order, don't you?" He asks walking towards Elena.
   "Ripper... perhaps you'd like a drink. From the doppelgänger's neck." Klaus tells him and he stands behind Elena. When Stefan moves to attack Elena I run to jump in front of her but Klaus stops me.
   "Klaus.. She's my sister." I tell him.  
   "Stop!" He says and he takes a vial of her blood and then he leaves with one look back at me. I go to follow him but when I get out in the hall he's gone. When I turn back, Elena and Stefan are both gone. I scour the school but I can't seem to find anyone. I make my way home and Elena texts me that she's ok, and Klaus has left town. I go to my contacts and hit Klaus' contact and press call.

"Hey, Elena told me you left town. I- I don't understand. Why would you leave with out me? I didn't do anything. All summer... I've been on your side. I was starting to fall for you and now you just left. You left me here... all by myself. Where did you go? Are you in trouble? I thought you loved me but... then why did you leave me? Please... please come back. I know I shouldn't, but I want to be with you Nik." I say into the phone and I'm in tears now. "Please just.. just come back." I say and hang up. I hear a knock on my room door and look to see my dad looking in through the crack. You wipe your tears and look down.
"Are you okay, Phebs?" He asks as he walks in.
"Yep, I'm all good." I tell him. "I'm actually supper tired. So I'm gonna go
to bed now." I tell him and he nods and leaves the room and turns of the lights behind him.
