Daniel was woken with a start the next morning from McQueen shaking him, worry spread across his face. Daniel day up quickly and rubbed his eyes.
"W-what happened?"
"M-Mater- he fell off a ladder and isn't moving!" Daniel saw tears falling from McQueen's eyes and he hugged him tightly.
"Dad, please don't cry...Mater will not die. Ever! He'll recover quickly!" McQueen shook in Daniel's grip, sniffling and wiped his eyes.
Sally was already dressed and heading to the door to rush to the ER in the car. McQueen picked up Daniel and walked to the car after Sally who locked the door.
"But you're not dressed dad-"
"No time for getting dressed. Pyjamas will suffice! Mater needs support." Daniel nodded and put his gaze onto his knees as he got in the car, McQueen getting in himself.
"Sal what if he-"
"Don't go and make assumptions Stickers. Mater is tough, physically not mentally. He'll be fine i assure you." She soothed and dried his eyes with a tissue from her blazer pocket. McQueen smiled weakly at her before frowning again. The car journey began and it was long. Daniel yawned tiredly, trying to keep his eyes open. Rain began to patter down, the noise drifting McQueen into a soft sleep.
"Mater!" McQueen dove next to the hospital bed that Mater lay on, eyes droopy that show growing pain. McQueen gripping Mater's shoulders, he smiles once he sees that his friend is okay. Daniel waddled up to Mater who gave his goofy grin, making him laugh.
"Are you okay?" He asked quietly and Mater nodded, ruffling his hair.
"Just an accident. Nothing to worry about buddy."
"You're hopeless..." McQueen sighed.
"hah, you're a hoot buddy."
