"Get the fuck away from him," Bradie hisses brown eyes focusing intently on her face.

Jenna Sloan, the celebrity stands in the center of the hospital holding a delirious Nathan.

"Jenna?"

Nathan's heartbroken cries stab Karen and Bradie in the chest.

"Let go of him," Karen states as she pulls Nathan off Jenna.

"I'm sorry," Jenna whispers softly.

"You made your choice to end things, and now you have to live with the consequences," Karen says. "He's not your boyfriend anymore."

A nurse comes up to the 4 young adults, promptly carting Nathan away and leaving the three females in silence.

"You should go," Bradie says calmly. "Let Nathan forget about you, and put you in the past. That's what's best for both of you."

"I know."

Nathan's fever rages on throughout the night, and nurses attach him to an IV drip which inserts fever reducers to his body.

In his drugged brain he lets the memories of Jenna slip through.

Nathan wakes with sweat dripping down his forehead and hair sticking flat to his face.

And then all of a sudden he's seeing things.

Suddenly he's running, and there's someone chasing him, and then all goes black once again.

When he wakes again, there are octopuses holding on to his arms, pinning him down, their suction cups firmly pressed against his skin. He feels his arms go weak, and then once again the blackness envelops him.

The third time he wakes, he's lying on skate blades, each one sinking into his skin. He can feel the pain and feel the blood trickling down his side.

And he closes his eyes again and lets it all fade.

Nathan finally wakes up to a white hospital room.

The walls are a little too plain, and the heavy stench of antiseptic reaches his nose in an instant.

He pushes back the white covers, surveying the room.

Two hard wooden chairs sit in the corner, along with a magazine or two.

Standing up he suddenly notices the device that has been implanted into the back of his hand.

It's a needle.

A needle connected to an IV stand.

Standing makes the world spin, and he feels tired.

Too tired.

Grasping for something he sinks to the floor in exhaustion, head smacking the metal bed frame on his way down.

The floor seems inviting, so he lays down and lets his mind drift off.

The nurse is shocked to find Nathan sleeping calmly on the floor, and a hoard of doctors instantly file in, checking him and then putting him back onto the bed.

They tape the small cut above his temple from where he hit the bed and leave him in peace.

Nathan wakes up later feeling better.

Sure, his nose is stuffy and he can't exactly breathe, but the world is less cold.

Karen and Bradie are sitting in the two hard wooden chairs staring intently at him.

"Fucking hell, ya'll are freaky," Nathan smirks his old arrogant demeanor coming back.

"Welcome back to planet Earth, it is the year 2030," Bradie says like a robot.

Nathan laughs, as he wiggles his legs anxiously.

"How did I get here?" He asks looking around the room.

"We brought you here," Karen deadpans as she rolls her eyes.

"Oh, thanks," Nathan states.

"So you don't remember anything about coming here?" Bradie questions raising her eyebrows suspiciously.

"No," Nathan replies. "Should I?"

"Nope," Karen says a little too quickly. "I'm going to go get some water, and Bradie is going to come with me, and you are going to stay here."

Without further warning, Karen yanks Bradie by her arm dragging her outside into the hallway.

"We don't say a word about Jenna," Karen states.

"Why not?"

"It's better if he doesn't remember," Karen replies. "If he doesn't remember now, he might not remember later. It's going to hurt too much for him to have to hear that we met her."

"He has a right to know," Bradie points out.

"Well, I'm revoking that right."

"Karen-"

"It's final," Karen states. "We are not telling him about Jenna."

And so the world continues to turn.

Nathan's released, and Jenna begins to fade from his life.

The past stays in the past, buried beneath time, blood and tears.

I'm legit about to leave, and so I'm writing this like in a mad rush so it's hella shitty.
