A faint kiss on my forehead woke me up the next morning. The sparks, which tingled my skin, told me who the culprit was even before I opened my eyes.

"Jared," I whispered his name, still not completely awake.

"Shh. Go back to sleep."

But it was too late. The sparks he created on my skin caused me to fully shake off the last bit of fog clouding my mind. My hazy brain took control over my body and I opened my eyes.

Jared was standing at the edge of the bed and leaning over me. He ran the tips of his fingers along my cheek, which caused me to instinctively turn my head closer to his touch. A soft smile tugged at the corner of his lips, but it didn't reach his cold eyes.

The storm reflected in his denim eyes reminded me of everything that had happened yesterday. From Larry's absence, to Elena's threat, and then Jared's announcement of her execution. It all came crashing down on me.

"What are you going to do about Elena?"

"Don't worry about her." He pecked my forehead and straightened back up. "It's still early, so go back to sleep."

"I can't." I latched myself onto his forearm before he could leave. "You can't kill either Elena or Ortiz. Please, tell me you've changed your mind."

"I've made my decision."

He softly tore his arm out of my clutches and made his way to the door. With his hand on the door handle, he stopped and turned back to me.

"Stay in the room until I come and get you." Without another word he exited the room and closed the door behind him.

The first thing I did when the soft click filled my ears, was reach for my neck. Sasha's potion, however, wasn't nestled just above my chest any longer. I threw the blanket and the pillow off the bed and scanned the entire mattress for any sign of the small bottle.

I was just about the rampage through every single item in Jared's room when my eyes landed on the half a pinkie sized bottle. It was resting on the small nightstand next to the bed. I immediately reached for it and tied it safely around my neck.

With the bottle now safely in my reach the closed door didn't bother me any longer. I didn't waste another moment before I jumped off the bed and hurried to get dressed. No way was I going to hide in this room, while Jared killed somebody.

While pulling one of Jared's shirts over my head, I couldn't help but notice my reflection in the full-sized mirror. Or better yet, I couldn't help but notice the bandage still plastered across my throat. In one quick pull I removed the material and finally give myself the opportunity to see Elena's handy work.

The cut wasn't too deep, however, the red line was longer than I expected. She had really lost control for a moment. Luckily, there was no fresh blood oozing out of the wound. A scab had already formed along the cut, while the surrounding skin remained softly reddish.

As a whole the cut didn't look too bad, but it was unfortunately on such a place that even my long hair couldn't cover it. Not unless I tied my hair under my chin.

With a sigh I accepted that sooner or later everyone was going to know about yesterday's events, so there was no point in trying to hide it. With my mind made up, I hurried over to the door. Before anything else could happen, I needed to hunt Jared down. Our discussion was not yet over, and it wasn't going to be over until he came to his senses and changed his mind about the execution.

The moment I opened the door, I came face to face with a surprised looking Ortiz. He had his hand positioned in mid-air; in the middle of the process of knocking on the door.
