The Serenity Stone [Fairy Tail Fanfic]

Chapter 1 - The New Job

        Hey guys! So this is my very first time writing and so I'm a little new at this. I'm sorry if I make any spelling or grammar mistakes, I will try my best to prevent them. I have thought about this story for a while now, and I'm really excited to start writing it! I will try to update as fast as possible, but I can get pretty busy at times. Okay, here you go, chapter 1!

Lucy's POV

        "Oh man! That job was exausting!" I said as we walk through Magnolia. Natsu was right behind me, fighting with Gray, Happy was flying around, and Erza was trailing with her enormous mound of stuff.

        "Yeah, that guy was really annoying." Happy stated, "he kept looking at me weirdly, like I was an alien or somthing!"

        "Well considering you're a talking flying blue cat, I don't blame him!" I stated. Happy just got this really sad look on his face, and flew over to Natsu yelling, "Lucy is being mean to me!"

        I just rolled my eyes, and continued walking forward. "I wonder how much we made today, this month's rent is coming up, and I still don't have enough to pay it off." I turned around, walking backwards, and started asking Erza, "Hey how much did we ma-" I was cut off by Natsu running into me.

        "Hey stop fighting!" I screamed at Natsu and Gray. Of course they either didn't hear me, or they just ignored me, because they just continued fighting. They were shoving and shouting at each other, about what? I didn't really catch it, because they were abruptly cut off by Erza smashing their heads together.

        She turned back to me and sighed, "Sorry, what were you saying?"

        "Oh, I was just asking how much we made today."

        "Well, the job gave us 16,000 jewel, so that would give us each 4,000 jewel." Erza replied. "That's not enough to pay off my rent." I thought with a frown. After hearing what Erza said, Happy started crying, "I don't count?" Both me and Erza just ignored him. "Why would a cat need money? He's got Natsu, that should be enough." 

        We walked past all the little shops in Magnolia and started to walk by the open feild that was right before the Fairy Tail building. 

        "What are those?" Natsu said. "Wow is he an idiot?" 

        "They are hot air balloons, duh! How could you not know that?" Gray retorted.

        "I don't know, maybe because I have never seen one?" Natsu shouted back. He threw his arm back ready to punch Gray, when he was stopped by Erza, "Enough!" She shouted.

        "Those are really big hot air balloons, what do you think they are for Lucy?" Happy questioned me.

        "I honestly have no idea, I never seen them out here in Magnolia. Maybe there is a celebration going on?" I replied. "This is really strange. If there is a celebration going on, then shouldn't we know about it?"

        We continued walking towards the building that towered above us, Fairy Tail. I was the first one to walk up the steps, but before I could open the door, Natsu jumped in front of me and kicked the door open, screaming "We're back!!!"

        I sighed and walked into the noisy guild. I headed straight for the open bar stool. Mirajane walked over to me with a big smile on her face.

        "Welcome back! how did it go?" She questioned.

        "Not bad, I didn't get enough to pay off this months rent though," I said frowning.

        "Aw that's too bad, you can always go on another job if you want." She suggested. 

        "Yeah I was planning on asking Natsu and Wendy if they wanted to go." I told her.

        "I think asking Wendy would be good, she had gone on a job by herself just after you left. She seemed slightly sad that you left without her."

        A wave of guilt hit me when I realized we didn't ask her to go with. "I think if you asked her if she wanted to go with this time, she would forgive you." Mirajane said as if she read my mind.

        "Do you really think so?" I asked her. "Is she just saying that to try to make me feel better? Or does she actually think that Wendy will forgive me?"

        "I'm sure, she's not the kind of person who holds grudges," Mirajane smiled at me "I would go ask them soon though, before all of the good jobs are taken."

        "Yeah, thanks Mira." I told her. I got up from my seat and started walking over to where Wendy was sitting. "What about those hot air balloons?"  I stopped in my tracks and ran back to Mira. When she heard me, she turned around with a look of confusion.

        "Did she say no?" Mirajane asked sounding suprised.

        "Oh no," I replied "I was just thinking, on our way back to the guild, we saw these giant hot air balloons. None of us knew what they were for, so I was wondering, if by any chance you would know?"

        "Oh! Yeah, those are the balloons that were sent out for the celebration. Apparently, there will be a celebration soon, I was told it was for something going on in the kingdom."

        "Okay, thank you Mira!" I said smiling. "I wonder what kind of celebration it is."

        I aproched the table where Natsu and Wendy were sitting. "Hey Wendy! Natsu! I was thinking about going on another job, do you guys want to come with?"

        Wendy looked up with wide eyes. She then started to smile and said, "I would love to!" Natsu just shrugged and said, "Sure, what are we doing?"

        I was about to reply when I was cut off by Gray, "Hey if you're going on a job, we're coming too!" He pointed behind him to Erza who was leaning against a pillar, nodding her head with her eyes closed.

        "All right." I stated as I walked over to the job board. I scanned all the jobs listed, "Hmmmm, giant spider, ew no. Underground tunnel flooding, too wet. Lumber mill, ugh too boring. Huh, the Serenity Stone? I've never heard of it. 200,000 Jewel?!?! That's enough to pay for my rent!" I grabbed the peice of paper and brought it over to the gang, "What about this one?" I asked them, holding it up. "It says that we just have to retrieve this thing called the Serenity Stone. It's for 200,000 Jewel!"

        They all looked at it, and nodded. "Looks like fun!" Wendy said. "Let's do it!" Happy said. "Okay, let's get going!" I said with a big smile on my face.
