Chapter 5 - The Stone

        Hey guys, sorry I haven't written in a while. I've been pretty busy lately. :/ So I'm going to try to write whenever I can. Thank you again to all that have been reading my story! You don't know how much this means to me! I wasn't expecting anyone to read my story, but here you guys are, and that makes me the happiest person in the world!! :D Anyway, chapter 5!

Wendy's POV

        As soon as Lucy fell to her knees, I was by her side. I didn't know what was causing her sudden outbreak, but I was determined to find out. I outstretched my hands, and started to heal her. I was shocked to see that it didn't work. I tried every healing spell I could think of, but it didn't do a single thing. She was on her knees bent over, with her arms smashed in between her legs and her stomach. Her eyes were squeezed shut, almost as if she had been in salt water, desperately trying to keep the salt out. 

        Lucy had been letting out frequent gasps and shrieks of pain. I tried every spell that I had again, to try to help ease Lucy's pain. It failed horribly, and didn't do anything to her.

     The chaotic clatter of fighting behind me, was really distracting. I sat back on my knees, and looked at my hands. "Can these hands do nothing?" I looked at Lucy with desperation, "I'm so sorry..." I whispered to Lucy.

        "It's not your fault." Carla stated. She was standing next to me, with her hands on her hips. She bore a facial expression of frustration. Happy stood next to her, he was looking down at Lucy, he was silent, until Natsu called him over. 

        I was looking over at the fighting that was going on between Natsu and Raner, when I noticed something. Every time Raner attacked, the Serenity Stone glowed. "Looks like he is still in control of the stone." I looked over at Lucy again, she was letting out squeals of pain. I looked back at the stone. "Wait a second..." I kept looking back and forth between the stone and Lucy. Realization hit me when I noticed the flash from the stone, and then a yell from Lucy. "It's the stone! The Serenity Stone is what is hurting Lucy! Is it because the stone is so close to her? ...But if that were the case, we would all be feeling this pain as well..." I remembered what Raner had said about the 'Haven'. I instantly became confused when I realized that I had never heard of it before. "What exactly is the Haven...?"

       A huge crash came from behind us. Carla and I looked over at the sound, There was a huge pile of rocks that was stacked up at the edge of the cave. Raner was walking towards us, Happy was knocked over, and Natsu was no where to be seen. I got up and got into a position to fight. He didn't seem to notice me, he was just staring at Lucy as he got closer to her. I stepped in front of Lucy, "You are not touching her!" He looked up at me, completely unfazed. He kept walking. "Sky Dragon Roar!" I shouted. His eyes grew wide as he tried to block my attack. But he did not succeed, he flew backwards and hit the ground, hard. Dust was swept through the room, and obstructed my view of him. I looked closely into the dust cloud, I could see a standing figure. I was ready to attack again when a bomb flew out of the cloud directly at me. Panic washed through me, I stepped back as the bomb came hurtling through the air. When it hit the ground, it exploded. I flew backwards, only to hit a wall with a loud thud. 

        My vision was blurry as I looked around. I blinked my eyes a couple times to see Raner, he was really close to Lucy. He grabbed her arm tightly, Lucy shouted in pain. Raner stepped back a step. A rumbling sound came from my left as the pile of rocks came crashing down, revealing a blazing orange figure. I heard a couple shouts, and then saw a big flash of light. The light was so bright I shut my eyes. When I opened them again I saw Natsu standing over a crater in the ground. The odd thing was, in the middle of the crater, there was a black lump.

        When I finally came back to my normal self, I realized that the lump was a charred Raner. I stared at the figure for a couple seconds, and then remembered Lucy. I turned and went over to her, Natsu was helping her up asking if she was alright. She told the pinkette that she was fine and looked down at her left fore-arm in pain. I caught a glimpse of what she was looking at, there was a bright red hand mark that went all around her wrist. I gasped and grabbed her hand, "He burned you!" 

        At first she had no reaction, like she hadn't heard what I said, but then she winced in pain. I saw something flash on her arm where she was burned. It was only for a second, so I didn't get a good look, but it looked like some sort of symbol. Natsu must have seen it too, "What was that?" he asked sounded worried.

        "I don't know... but... ah! It's getting worse..." Lucy gasped out. She was holding her arm with her other hand. She started to walk over to the crater. "What... did you do... to me...?" She managed to get out. At first I didn't realize who she was talking to, but then the blob that was Raner started to laugh hoarsely. "You will never get away from us now..." he continued to chuckle his horrid laugh, "Dorin will find you." He just began to laugh again, but I drowned him out. I focused my attention on Carla, who had just gasped. Her eyes were wide, as if she had just seen someone die in front of her, "Dorin..." She whispered. 

        "What?" I asked her. This seemed like it snapped her back to normal, "What? Oh, nothing" She just turned away. "Who is Dorin, and why does Carla sound like she knows him?"

        Lucy seemed like she was really frustrated, "What was that thing you mentioned earlier? The Haven, and what's it got to do with the stone?" Dorin just laughed again, "Ask your parents, oh wait. They're dead!" He erupted in laughter again. Lucy seemed very surprised by this comment, her eyes widened as she stared at the ground. That's when Natsu came up and punched him in the face, "Shut up!!"

        "Lucy..." Happy said quietly. "I'm fine," she said as her facial expression went back to normal. We all just looked at her sadly. "What does Lucy's parents have to do with this?"
