Back inside the classroom, the students sat there in a state of stupor. They all looked back and forth at each other muttering. As Mr.Martin finished up on a Phone call with the front office. He couldn't believe a student just burst out of class after appearing so calm? Mr.Martin looked over to the stoic blonde in the back. She gave off no sign of reaction just stared down at her paper.
When in reality Rosalie's mind was buzzing far faster than a human mind could comprehend. 'She just had a panic attack...Did she recognize me? No, then why was she so scared her heart sounded like it would jump straight out of her chest! This cant be good what if she knows about vampires?! I can't kill her!! How would it even be possible for her to be still alive and human? She could just be a decedent but that reaction!? Her hormones shot right up with Cortisol!'
Back in the vehicle, Eliza rubbed the bridge of her nose. She felt in no state to drive Eliza hoped she didn't ruin Bella's new chance at being social or make friends in school. In a few hours, she'd probably get a call from Bella asking her what the hell happened. Eliza gazed out the front window at the cars on the tar parking lot staring off. "Click click click" When a knock came on the trucks driver side window.
Jumping Eliza snapped her head towards the sound spotting a mocha brown stache and crew cut. Oh, its just Charlie her body relaxed, Oh fuck its Charlie!!! Giving a strained smile Eliza grabbed the lever cranking the window open. "Hi, dad!"
He still had on his duty belt and navy uniform."Come on out of the car Kiddo, you've got some explaining to do," Charlie said unimpressed. Sighing Eliza got out of the scuffed up orange trunk. "Keys?" Charlie asked Eliza forked over the keys into his outstretched hand.
They walked together to Charlie's cruiser getting in."Do you know how long you've been missing?" Frowning Eliza shook her head. "Three hours you've missed almost all your classes." If Eliza didn't feel so exhausted anxiety would probably be burning a hole inside her intestines right now. "Eliza, I know we haven't seen much of each other in the last few years but I'm your father. I am here for you, so what happened back there, Eliza?"
Eliza crossed her arm using her other hand to support her head."I-i this is embarrassing i got scared. I thought i saw someone i use to know who's dead. She looks like them and i got scared by the time i got back to the truck, i realized my mistake."
Charlie glanced at her defeated expression across him. "Oh, I'm sorry Kiddo was she important to you?" Charlie coughed into his hand. Eliza smiled remembering good times, memories flickered behind glassy eyes and unshed tears "Yeah we were, best friends."
Charlie started the engine driving off 'Did you ever forget me Rosalie...?' thought Eliza staring out the car window.
February 24th, 1932
Over at the Walsh residents Eliza and Rosalie behind a locked door. The pair celebrated what they could of Valentine's day. They missed it as Rosalie's parents had been shoving her to Royce. Who spared no moment attempting to Woo Rosalie. Royce had the gall to propose and Rosalies's parents forced her to accept it.
Rosalie felt straight up sick of it! Royce only got more handsy as the days went by. This had been the final nail in the coffin for them and they planned to run away together. Gentle jazz pitterd in and out how piano and bass from the radio on Eliza's dresser.
Rosalie rolled her tense shoulder attempting to relax. Though the smile never wavered on her face the corners of her eyes didn't crease. Giving away the thoughts that burdened her mind. Clinking their glasses of Rosé Rosalie sipped her wine thinking deeply.
The Auburn haired woman scratcher her head, bringing the Rosé to her lips. Inhaling the Aromaic scent though the romantic nature of their evening. Eliza could tell by her lover's face she felt troubled. An idea popped in her head as a slow dance song "How deep is the ocean" by Irvin Berlin floated from the radio filling the room. The rough months churned in her mind reaching forward Eliza took Rosalie's hand.
"How much do i love you? I tell you no lie.
How deep is the ocean? How high is the sky?
How many times in a day
Do I think of you?
How many roses are
Sprinkled with dew?"
"Wha-?" Pulling her out of the leather armchair Eliza held Rosalie by the waist. Rosalie pressed her hand against the center of Eliza's chest. Her flush skin standing out against the sharp shiny fabric of Eliza's satin long sleeved dress."Rosalie Wrap your arms around my neck, forget about everything, let's dance." Eliza said. The sway swirled along their dresses as they Waltzed in place. Flora pink and sable clashing against each other.
"How far would I travel
Just to be where you are?
How far is the journey
From here to a star?"
Worries and care melted away as they held onto each other. Rosalie melted under the sight of Jade's eyes a grin fluttering onto her face. Red lips curled revealing pearly whites, eyes glistening.
"And if I ever lost you
How much would I cry?
How deep is the ocean?
How high is the sky?"
Maybe something would get in the way today tomorrow or a month from now; but they both knew no matter what they'd find their way back to one another.
