NADINE BEHZADI was left stunned as the gorgeous brunette walked away from her. She started to notice the stares of passerby's, the whispers from envious teenagers at their lockers.
Nadine scoffed, and turned around, everyone clearing themselves from the path she created. Nobody wanted to face the goddess's wrath.
Heading to the courtyard where she met her friends between each class, she saw Petra having a heated discussion with Honor in a dark corner behind the doors leading to the courtyard.
Nadine furrowed her perfectly shaped dark brows, lingering behind to wait for Honor.
The two blondes must have felt Nadine's presence because they turned to look at her, no more words being uttered out of their pretty, pink plump limps.
Honor glared one last time at Petra before walking over to Nadine, adjusting her cream Chanel headband that rested on her blonde waves.
"Everything alright?" Nadine asked her curiously as they began to walk to the marble table in the middle of the courtyard.
"Yeah, just reminding Petra the deal we made about keeping her pretty mouth shut," Honor said, rolling her eyes.
Nadine doubted that was the only thing discussed, but decided not to press Honor. She was sure she would find out later.
Greeting her four other friends, she sat on one of the benches in between Honor and Wesley.
"How's your first day back been so far?" Wesley asked her.
Wesley King was someone Nadine loved. Not romantically, but Nadine and Wesley were best friends. He confided in her with everything that happened in his life as did she. It was a platonic love for sure, but that didn't mean they don't mean as much to each other.
Nadine shot a pointed look at Tomas, "Would have been good if this idiot didn't spill his fucking coffee all over my notes."
Wesley laughed, so did the rest of the table but Nadine didn't find it as amusing as her friends did. She had a lot of pressure on her to get valedictorian this year from her family but most of the pressure was made up by herself.
"At least I got to borrow notes from this girl in our class or I would have beat the shit out of you," She said before Tomas stopped laughing, "and she claims she's never heard of the elite before! Can someone do a background check on her or some shit?"
Diana nodded, typing something in her phone, "On it. Name?"
"Violet Grey, I think," She said as Diana kept typing.
"I'll share during lunch," Diana reported.
Nadine focused her attention back on Wesley but he seemed distant. She hadn't had a real conversation with him all summer and wanted to catch up, but he seemed as if he were millions of miles away.
Before she could get his attention, all of their phones went off.
All of them had received notifications of an update on the Rumor Has It app. It was something like Gossip Girl, Nadine thought it was irrelevant but somehow everyone else paid crucial attention to it. Rumor Has It just posts updates on the happenings of the elite of all prestigious schools in Manhattan like Highland Academy, Delacroix Academy, and several other schools including their very own, Riverside Preparatory. Clicking on the Riverside tab, she opened up the new post for their school.
Rumor Has It:
Happy first day back to all of you, even the B-Listers who are reading this. Whether you were lounging on some yacht this summer in the Mediterranean or dining with some sheiks in Dubai, I kept up. Several festivities happened over the weekend which you might have missed out on before you returned to school. Riverside's Charlotte Astor and Tomas Ito, long-time power couple, were seen hitting up several different clubs on Friday night with the rest of their elite friends but these two definitely stole the spotlight by being all over each other and looking more in love than ever. Princess Honor was spotted getting a bit too tipsy while clubbing with them, who knows what came out of her mouth?
Welcome back and don't forget to send in tips! All of them had their eyes glued to their cellphone, reading the post. Nadine looked up from her phone after she was done reading to see Wesley's jaw clenched.
"Wes?" Nadine asked him.
Wesley just shoved his phone in his pocket, stood up, and walked away.
"What's his deal?" Honor giggled.
Nadine wanted to chase him and make him tell her what was bothering him but decided not to. He had to tell her things, that's how it worked. She couldn't force him to tell her, she was scared that would push him away even further.
"He's fine, anyway what's the deal with our party Friday?" Tomas asked the table.
Every year, the six of them held a party for the elite of Riverside the Friday of the first week of school. Their parties were legendary, an event that stood out of everyone's social calendar.
"My penthouse is getting a makeover on Thursday with all the decorations and then everything else is in order with the food and drinks," Diana told him.
"And after? We still have to organize the slumber party," Charlotte said.
Tomas took this as his cue to leave since he was not part of the plan, quickly kissing Charlotte goodbye.
After their annual Friday party, each of them would choose a girl to bring along to the slumber party, invitations automatically giving them an elite status. Nadine had other girlfriends who were in the elite, she hadn't chosen her girl yet. However, the brunette from earlier piqued her interest.
Maybe Violet Grey could prove to be worthy enough for an invite.
