RYU Sol is beginning to think that the world must have it out for her. Seriously. She must have assassinated someone important in her past life to to deserve all of this. Clearly, some higher being is beyond pissed at her, and is getting back at her in the worst way possible – by ruining all of her dates. There's no way this can be a coincidence. In the past six months, Sol cannot remember a single time where a date has ended well. And she's been on a lot of dates, courtesy of Sohee. Why her best friend thinks that she needs to be set up on a multitude of dates is beyond Sol. She got out of one relationship, and it hadn't taken Sohee long to have a string of guys lined up ready to take Sol out.
But this one really takes the cake. Sol's never been more embarrassed in her entire life, and she just wants to walk up the front steps of her house and jump straight in the shower before she catches a cold or something.
This particular date started like all the others – great, if a little awkward. Sol barely knew the guy, someone named Yeosang that Sohee had met through her own boyfriend, and promptly decided that he would be a perfect match for Sol.
Sol's started taking that declaration with a grain of salt. Sohee's said the same thing about everyone else she's set Sol up with in the past half a year, and none of them have lasted longer than a single date. Sohee's just a hopeless romantic. And just because Sohee's relationship with her own boyfriend is so domestically cute and adorable, doesn't mean Sol needs one like that. She's perfectly fine embracing her single life. She doesn't need a man.
("Neither do I," Sohee had pointed out hotly. "But there's nothing wrong with kisses and cuddles." And well, Sohee did kind of have a point, but there was no way that Sol was going to admit it to her.)
But just because Sol's dates start out well, doesn't mean they end well. In fact, most of the time, they end in disaster. It's the sole reason why none of Sohee's potential boyfriend candidates have made it to a second date, and Sol wonders how long it will take for Sohee to realise that she's not the matchmaker extraordinaire that she claims to be.
So really, she should have expected this date to end in a disaster, too.
To be fair, Yeosang wasn't as bad as some of the other guys Sol's been out with. He's polite enough, and he doesn't try and bring he to some fancy restaurant where Sol can't pronounce anything on the menu (just because Sol's family are relatively well off, doesn't mean she eats and expensive restaurants all the time, she appreciates cheap food just as much as the next person). He also doesn't go all out and turn up on her doorstep with a limo. She's thankful when it turns up in his beatdown, red Corolla, and he's not dressed to the nines.
He's definitely an interesting person, and Sol wouldn't mind getting to know him. She's just not sure if she actually wants to date him. But he's one of the better people that Sol's been set up with. They bond over similar interests in music, and she listens attentively when he starts talking about the dance crew he's part of. Then he buys her ice cream and plays loud pop songs on the way back to her house.
