THIS time, it takes Sohee only a week to find another date for Sol. And despite the near concussion, Sohee refuses any attempt that her best friend makes to get out of it. Why hasn't Sohee realised that sending Sol on these dates is a hazard? Sol already feels like she's treading on thin ice, and sooner or later something seriously bad is going to happen, and someone will end up severely injured. She's still thanking her lucky stars that she didn't end up with a concussion after that basketball game, but she doesn't think she'll be that lucky a second time.Unfortunately, Sohee doesn't listen to any of Sol's very valid concerns, and that's how she finds herself spending half an hour going through someone's social media pages, determined to scope out whole exactly this Jung Yunho guy that Sohee's setting her up with is. She's horrified to discover that the boy seems to be familiar with both Yeosang and Mingi, if his social media posts mean anything. Sol nearly threw her phone across the room when she came a across a picture of Yunho and Mingi together, holding up peace signs.
She sincerely hopes that Mingi hasn't said anything about her to him. If she's going on another date, she wants it to be on a clean slate.
"It'll be fine," Sohee insists. "Third time's the charm?"
And Sol resists the urge to scowl. Just because Sohee's whole perfect love story came together beautifully (after two disastrous incidents and an almost third), doesn't mean things are going to fall into place for everyone else. Sol knows that first hand.
"You said the same thing last time," Sol points out.
"Well, I didn't take rogue basketballs into account," Sohee says, not deterred in the slightest. "This time, make sure you steer clear of any basketballs, and you should be fine."
"There's plenty of things that could go wrong," says Sol, just to be difficult. But in her defence, she's experienced when it comes to catastrophic dates.
"Well, you've been to a carnival before," says Sohee, placing her arms on Sol's shoulders as if she's about to shake her. "There's no reason for this to end in disaster."
And, well, there was no reason for the rest of her dates to end horrible either, Sol thinks.
"You got this," Sohee says, pushing her towards the front door just as the doorbell rings. "I believe in you."
Sol just takes a deep breath, before she opens the door and plasters a smile on her face when she spots Yunho. Her first thought is that he's taller than she expected (she realises now that it's difficult to estimate height on social media). He's dressed casually, which Sol is glad about, because she remembers a date she went on months ago with some guy from her maths class who arrived at her house way overdressed for a casual date. On the other hand, Sol can't help but notice that she's wearing a lot of branded attire, from his white shirt to his expensive sports shoes.
