The Mission

Yup I'm still going

Clementine's POV

  After being awakened by AJ, Minnie and I went to go see Lilly for the plan on how to recruit from the school. Lilly had a plan that made ours easy.

  "Clem, you will go to the school. Gain their trust and convince them to come peacefully. You and AJ have no more than 5 days to get them here. If they aren't ready by then we will go get them, understand?" I could see a smile on Minnie's lips.

  "Yes ma'am." She told me to leave immediately and told Minnie to lead me there but to stay away from the school. Not long after Minnie, AJ, and I were in the forest on our way to the school.

  "I have to stay away from them Clem. I don't think I'm ready to face them after all this time, after how much I've changed and what I've done." Minerva's eye's stayed on the ground as she talked.

  "I understand Minnie, but I'm sure they'd be happy to see you. Plus it might be easier to make them believe me about delta." "I'm sorry Clem but I just...I need some time." "Ok, that's ok. I can do this for us, you don't need to rush yourself for this."

  She smiled and intertwined our fingers as we walked. AJ stared at our hands for a minute while walking behind us. "What do girlfriends mean?"

  We both stopped walking and turned to him. He paniced, "Oh is it bad sorry, I just heard Dorian call you guys that but she didn't explain it."

  Both of our faces were bright red as we struggled to explain. 'We never actually talked about being together... What are we then?' Looking at Minerva for help to see her trying to explain what girlfriends are.

  "Well it's kind of like um let's see uhh..." She was just as lost as I was. "Remember how I told you about your parents, how they loved each other and looked after one another. Girlfriends is kind of like that but with two girls instead of a boy and a girl." 'That's the best I got.'

  It slowly seemed to register with AJ as Minerva looked relieved that it was over. "Oh so you guys love and look out for each other." Face feeling hot I looked over at Minnie. Her face was beat red.

  "Umm..." Minerva shot me a questioning glance as she tried to answer. We hadn't talked about it before. Taking her hand I conveyed the question through a squeeze to her hand. She seemed to understand and smiled as she squeezed back.

  "Yeah AJ we're girlfriends." Minnie answered making both me and AJ smile. "Now let's get you two to the school and get this plan in motion." We began walking again and what seemed like too soon we were hidden in brush looking up at the school.

  "Hey be careful Clem, I'll meet you back out by the river tonight ok?" She whispered as she looked at the school. I could see her face sadden by the second so I placed a hand on her cheek. She turned at the contact and rested her forehead against mine.

  "It's gonna work out Minnie, I'll make sure of it." Minnie's smiled and pecked my lips. "Gross." We jumped apart and looked back at AJ. He seemed annoyed that we had kissed like he wasn't there.

  Minerva laughed lightly and pecked my lips again much to AJ's dismay. She laughed at his pout once more before she started to retreat into the forest. With one last glance over her shoulder she disappeared into the forest.

  "Why are we doing this again Clem?" AJ asked referring to warning the school and leaving delta. "Delta is a bad place AJ they do bad things, and they want to hurt the people at this school. We can't let them use us to hurt people."

  He nodded and looked at the school before asking something else. "Is Minerva going with us?" He looked at me with hope in his eyes. "Yes, she came up with this plan to leave and wants to stay with us." AJ had a smile on his face for a minute before he schooled his expression and nodded towards the school.

  With a sigh I stood and moved into the open towards the school, AJ right behind me. We made it not even twenty feet from the gate of the school when we heard a voice.

  "Don't move or you get an arrow in your head." A male voice from a makeshift watchtower. Not wanting to come off as a threat I pushed AJ farther behind me before raising my hand in surrender.

  "Ok that's good." He sounded surprised. I squinted against the sun to see him in the tower. He had blond hair, it seemed self cut to say the least. True to his threat he wielded a bow and arrow aimed at me.

  I raised an eyebrow at him before talking. "Me and my boy aren't a threat to you we just need to pass a message along, to whoever runs this place."

  The commotion caused other kids to take interest and soon the gate had eight kids pressed against it watching me and AJ. I recognized two, the boy and girl from the train station. They seem to recognize me too but stay quiet.

  "I'm the person in charge." The blond kid spoke again making me shift my attention back to him. Dropping my hands from the air to my sides made him tighten the bow in warning. "Look I know this isn't something most people want to hear but your community is in trouble." This got his attention.

  He lowered his bow only slightly and nodded as for me to continue. "I'm a part of a group," his bow tightened again. "Let me finish, they are coming to raid this place, take you and your people. Me and my boy are here to warn you, maybe even help you defend yourself from them."

  He lowered his bow and looked out at the kids against the gate. "Why are you warning us, what do you want in return?" With a sigh I looked back at the kids by the gate. "My girlfiend and my son aren't safe there, I'm scared they're going to get hurt by the group. All I ask is to let us stay with you so we can leave the group."
 
  He considered this before climbing down the tower and to the gate. He opened it and the kids formed a semi circle around us with him in the middle. "We will give you a chance but if you do anything even mildly suspicious, your out." He reached out his hand for a shake.

While shaking his hand started talking. "I'm Marlon." "Clementine, this is AJ." I said using my free hand to motion to the silent boy still slightly hiding behind me.

  "Nice to meet you both, and welcome to Ericson's school for troubled youth." He said after letting my hand go. I looked around at the kids who started whispering amongst themselves, presumably about me and AJ.

Here take this, these girlfriends will be the death of me. I seriously love this ship so much it's crazy also can't wait to get into all the Minerva drama that will inevitably be unleashed upon the school. But I guess it just be like that. 🌈🌈👌👌
