Sunny side up

As night rolls around I find myself standing outside the front of Archies house. I've been here for the last twenty minutes going over all the possible scenarios in my head. Archie could turn me down, or laugh at me, or worst of all pity me. I try and tell myself he's asleep and I shouldn't bother him, but I can see a faint light shining through his curtains. Eventually I swallow my pride and step towards the door, pushing the doorbell with all the energy I have.

As soon as I do I start to panic, worrying about what to say and where I should place my bag. If I should tell him straight away or invite myself in first. But then if I invite myself in maybe I would be seen as too pushy and he would feel like he has to-. Before I can even finish that trainwreck of a thought the front door is pushed open and the smile of my best friend greets me.

"Hey," Archie says softly, surprised to see me. His eyes wander down to my bag, lingering for a moment before making their way back up to mine.
"Do you mind if I stay a while, I can't go home at the moment," I stutter out and instead of the questioning or sad eyes I was expecting he just smiles, nods and lets me in.

I wave at Fred as I step through the front door. Archie leads me up to his room and I don't utter a single word.

"Thanks so much" I say quickly as I slump down on his bed, already getting used to this as my home.
"No problem. I'm gonna go grab some bedding and talk to my dad about this. Don't worry he's just gonna have some questions."

I smile at his generosity as he leaves the room, glad I took Veronicas advice. But there is no way I'm gonna tell her that.

BEEP BEEP
"Urghh" I moan. I wake up to the sound of Archies electronic alarm giving me a pounding headache. I blindly slam my fist against his desk, attempting to shut it up. "Urghhhh" I moan again. Eventually I roll over and turn it off.

Shit I'm late

A dark haired beauty sits alone at a table for four, a pink milkshake her only company. Rain pours outside the window, a perfect winter morning. Suddenly the quiet is ruined as the door to pops swings open furiously.

"Sorry I'm late" I say out of breath, taking the spot opposite her. I'm a mess. My hair is wet and mostly slicked back from the rain. My clothes, an old tracksuit I rushed to get on are saturated and cling to my body.
She turns to face me, a disgusted look on her face.
"What?" I say
She touches a stray hair hanging in front of my face and tucks it behind my ear.
"Your wet"
"Well I ran all this way for you, I was trying not to be late"
"Your getting water all over the seat and table"
"Try not to be so repulsed" I say sarcastically
"It's hard," she replies, smiling at me smugly.

Pop arrives and places a plate of eggs and bacon before me. I smirk at Veronica, she lived up to her promise. I dig into the food without a seconds delay.

"So what did you want to discuss" I ask, mouth full of food. She rolls her eyes at my lack of manners and attempts to ignore it.
"My dads going out of town this weekend, something about a big event he and my mother have to attend for a client."
"Do you think somethings going down?" I ask, intrigued by the mystery of it all.
"No I don't, but I have made some weekend plans of our own."

I put down my food and look at her seriously.
"I have a plan too" I say
"Oh really" she says sarcastically
"Yes and it's good. Not to brag but Betty and I have completed many investigations of our own so-"
"Let me stop you right there," Veronica interjects. I give her a fake smile. No one cuts me off like that. "You and Betty may have had fun finding out what the secret meat in the cafeteria pattys are but this is serious. FBI level shit that is a bit higher than your pay-grade at your gossip blog.. What's it called again?"
"Look-" I say
"Oh right the Blue and Gold. My dad's a businessman and probably not to your surprise so am I, so we do it my way."

She's so full of herself, cocky and self-centred, and worse of all she's probably right. I push away the urge in me to lash out, or leave, or murder her right here and now.
"Fine" I mutter, "What's the plan"
