Chapter 25
"What do you mean you're questioning it?" Jace demanded.
It has been only thirty minutes since we all settled in the meeting room. Jace arrived fifteen minutes ago and met me at my office. Jake decided to stay and wait for us, he's in my office right now watching TV.
Our lawyers were here too and so were most of the board members.
"The company is supposed to be under your name. Cordelia-or Nina-is supposed to be the Vice President." one of the board members said. "It is said in the original Will, the one your father wrote when you and your mother were still alive-or when your mother was still alive..."
Jace sighed frustrated. "What is your point in all of this? There is no problem here. My sister is doing a great job at running the company, there have been no problems—that is till now that you're questioning it."
"The problem, is that we-well, some of us, still want to follow your father's original plan; and that is to give the company to his first born."
"Another problem is Fox Industries." another board member said.
"What does this have to do with Fox Industries?" Jace asked alerted by the statement.
"Your name is Aiden Jason Maxfield. Not Jason Fox."
"I was legally adopted when I had amnesia, my name is legally Jason Fox and Aiden Maxfield." He said frustrated.
I was honestly getting frustrated too. I couldn't see the point in this meeting, basically all they're doing is annoying the hell out of us.
"Alright, this is pointless." I spoke up getting their attention.
"Cordelia, this meeting is very important-"
"Yes, I know. I didn't say it wasn't important, I just said it was pointless. But seriously, you are all making life very complicated which is really unnecessary and unwanted. Okay, first of all I really do not like it that you made Jace come here as soon as he was scheduled to come home just for this."
"I am annoyed with it as well." Jace piped in.
I mean seriously. The guy is running a huge company, he just came from London on a business trip and he's supposed to be resting at home, but instead he's here dealing with this.
"Secondly, I honestly wanted my brother to get the company, it's rightfully his, but he has responsibilities in Fox Industries as well—"
"That's one of our points, Cordelia. Fox Industries is his first priority, not Maxfield Corporation."
"Yeah, I think that's obvious." I said trying my best to stay patient. "He's the CEO of Fox Industries for heaven's sake. Of course it's his priority. Emily and Robert Fox raised him as their own, and as sad as it may sound, they raised him more than my parents did because of the accident and his amnesia. I think he made the right decision because he has a responsibility to the industry and its his way of showing how grateful he is to Robert and Emily that the empire they worked hard to build was passed to him, even if he's their adoptive son."
It was Jace's turn to speak. "Fox Industries is also my first priority because I know I didn't have to worry about my father's company, because it was handed down to someone I know that would take good care of it. I know Nina would take care of the company our parents built. I trust in her abilities and knowledge in running the company successfully." Jace said confidently making me smile. "The name of the company is back, it's become more popular to investors and stocks have gone up. She's fixed and improved the company. I see no real reason on why the company should be under me. Even if I did accept it, I would still hand over the company to Nina in a heartbeat."
