Chapter 28

I couldn't help but feel so sad for the children in the orphanage we visited awhile ago.

They were cramped in such a small house. While Jake was talking with Danny, I left with Aria and looked around.

There were only three bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms. Ms. Rose has her own room and Danny gave his room away to the other children. His room is a small closet with poles and curtains around making a small perimeter, it serves as his room.

There were a bunch of double decks and most of them share it. Some sleep on the floor. The ones that sleep on the bed gave their pillows to the ones who sleep on the floor.

Since they only have two bathrooms, it's kinda hard and I have no idea how they do it, one of the bathrooms only has a tile by and a sink.

I can't wait for them to move out of the small house and to a place where they could live comfortably.

They don't deserve to live that way.

I heard a knock on my door making me shake my head and go back to reality.

"Nina? Are you done?" I heard Jake say from outside.

"I'll be down in a minute!" I called back.

Right now we were headed to a cocktail party that Harold and Jamie organized. It's actually a grand opening of their new resort.

It's about two hours away from the city, so we decided to pack up and get ready here at the resort and spend the night here as well since it was gonna end late for sure.

I looked at myself in the mirror and fixed my dress. I'm wearing a midnight blue dress and hugged my body till my hips then flowed till mid thigh; the top was decorated with silver sequins and beads making it sparkle. Of course this is thanks to the lovely designer, Jamie Hawkins, who helped picked it out for me.

I was only wearing minimal makeup, some dark eyeshadow, mascara, and lipstick. Silver earrings were hanging from my ears that matched the bracelet my mom gave me. My hair was put up in a loose neat bun with some strands hanging that framed my face.

I put on my nude colored heels and grabbed my phone from the table and stuffed it in my silver clutch.

Okay, I think I'm all set.

I went out of the room making sure I had the key card in my bag and headed to the elevator.

Once I reached the lobby I got out to see my handsome boyfriend on his phone waiting for me. He was wearing a gray suit with a dark blue tie and matching handkerchief sticking out of his left breast pocket.

I walked to him hearing the clacking of my heels on the marble floor. I guess he heard it too cause he looked up and smiled widely at me.

"Uh, I'll call you back, my beautiful girlfriend just came." he said smiling as he ended the call and stuffed his phone in his pocket.

I smiled at him and kissed his cheek. "Hey, handsome."

"You look beautiful, love."

"Thanks." I said then noticed something on his cheek. "Oops, sorry I got some lipstick on your cheek. Hold on." I said chuckling lightly.

He chuckled lightly. "It's okay."

I opened my bag and looked for the pack of tissue I stuffed inside awhile ago. I got a piece and looked back up at him.

"Here, give me." I said taking his face with one hand and wiping away the lipstick with the tissue. I smiled as I got all of it off. "There you go."
