"Behind the Mask"

You have not seen me crippling in front of you, haven't you?

Once I crumple, my true form will show.

The mask put down, all parts bare,

terrifying - also rare.

Burned face, scarred skin,

and swollen bruises are what you will see.

It fills all parts of my body without mercy.

And no, it won't be pretty.

I am not all yellow and sunshine,

nor anything like a satisfying glass of red wine.

This is just me, all blue and grey;

a reality that will be hard for you to see.
