I lick the raspberry blue snow cone delicately as I think about the past few days here.
How did I end up here? On a beach in Hawaii with a boy who just so happened to be famous, that was my boyfriend. Things like this didn't happen to me, I wasn't anybody special.
"What's the matter?" Cameron asks me, noticing my sudden change of mood.
"Nothing." I quickly dismiss.
"You can tell me." He promises, taking my hand that didn't hold a blue raspberry snow cone.
"Well..." I start, trying to be careful when choosing my words. "Why me? I'm nobody special, I'm not pretty, I'm not perfect, I didn't even know who you are, despite the hundreds who came here with hopes of seeing you."
"Peyton, you're a beautiful person inside and out, and the fact that you were completely oblivious to me life made me fall for you even more. It helped me realise that there are people out there that love me for who I am." He says.
I turn and wrap my arms around him, trying my best not to get the snow cone all over him.
"Get a room, you too!" I hear someone shout.
Looking around, I see it's Matthew. Smirking, I reply with, "Just because you did."
"Shots fired." Cameron grins.
"Come on." I roll my eyes, pulling him back towards the beach.
After an afternoon of ice cream, swimming and selfies, we're all officially 'beached out', so we grab our stuff, and make our way back to the hotel. Everyone except me heads down to the game room. I needed to wash the sea salt from my hair before my date with Cameron.
When I get back to the room, I find that it's empty, and there's a small note on the desk in the main room.
Back later. Make sure you go for something to eat. Peyton, you're in charge. Love Mom xxx
I sigh and walk into the bathroom. I knew we would hardly ever see mom whilst we were here (not that we saw her much anyway), but I at least expected her to be around for dinner, as it was the only time she wasn't working. Turning the shower on, I find dinky bottles of vanilla shampoo and conditioner and place them on the side, ready to use. As the water warms, I climb in and wash the saltwater from my hair.
Hopping out, I wrap myself in a big fluffy black towel and dry my hair. Conscious of time, I curl my hair and apply light makeup. Once that's done, I ransack my cases for something halfway decent to wear. After all, I hadn't expected to meet someone that I liked. Luckily, I find a pretty pink lace dress with a thin brown belt and some plain white heels, along with some gold hoop earrings. As I slip on my heels, there's a knock on the room door.
"One minute!" I call.
After hopping around my now mess of a room, I get to the front door and I swing it open, revealing Cameron in black dress pants and a white shirt, his hair messy, along with his thousand watt smile.
"Hey. You look beautiful." He smiles.
"Thanks! So do you!" I say, before realising what I'd said. "I mean-"
"It's okay." He grins, making me blush. He offers his hand, "Shall we?"
I smile and take it as I pull the door closed behind me. "We shall."
Celeste's POV
Resting the gun on my chin, I pull the trigger and and watch the zombies fall to the ground. We'd decided to have a tournament of this zombie game, and an hour or so later, I was here playing the final round with Carter.
