The rest of the weekend went by without any significant incidents. The tension surrounding the two ex lovers seemed to lessen in the slightest, much to Dani's relief. Dani and her mother managed to pick out a beautiful venue at the Rainbow Room garden and loft, falling in love with the views of New York's St. Patrick's Cathedral and gorgeous reception area. The next task was getting the guest list and sending out save the dates.
"Uhg, mum please don't go! I don't even know where to begin with the guests or cakes or all that wedding stuff. What kind of wine goes with what meats?"
"Sweetheart I think you can manage that on your own." (Y/n) laughed, giving a quick kiss to her daughter's hair. "Red goes with red, white goes with white."
"But what does that mean?" Dani whined, putting her mother's bag in the cab.
"You'll be fine, I promise. I'll be back in a six weeks to help you dress shop and if you still need help with anything I'll fix it." (Y/n) reassured, getting into the back seat and rolling down the window.
"Okay, mum. I love you, call me when you get back to London." The brunette leaned through the window and kissed her mom.
"Of course. I love you too, safe trip back to Durham." The cab took off to JFK to catch (Y/n)'s flight. The whole way there and the whole flight back, (Y/n)'s thoughts were jumbled. She tried hard to process the whole trip, from reuniting with Rhodey to confronting Tony. There were so many emotions that hit her when she saw him again that they were just now starting to affect her, tears streaming down her face as she sat rocking in the shower of her flat.
Dani looked out the window of their car, reflecting back on the weekend with her parents.
"And you were worried." Jonas smiled at his fiance, taking her hand in his free hand.
"I know, she's just always been so broken about what he did so I couldn't help but worry."
"Well they seem fine now."
"Let's hope it stays that way." She turned back to the window, running everything through her mind once again to ensure she hadn't missed any big gestures that meant anything wrong. A thought crossed her mind and made her laugh. "This all seems too much like the plot of Mamma Mia! doesn't it?"
"I mean I guess, except your mom has only ever been with one guy and you aren't plotting to get them together again. Besides, we aren't in Greece, which would be pretty awesome." He glanced at her, noticing that look in her eye. "Dani it isn't right to assume they are going to magically get together again. This isn't some fanfiction your roommate wrote about some movie characters, this is real life."
"I know, I know! I just want them to be happy."
"They'll figure it out on their own, baby." Jonas squeezed her hand.
"They will, won't they." Dani smiled at the thought, putting on some ABBA for the rest of the drive back down south.
