New Life

Rakal got off the rocket bus, with all her stuff she could carry in one luggage and a stuffed, bulky backpack. Lakewood Estates, a simple city that was just about close enough to P.O.I.N.T. As soon as she turned 18, she packed her things and ran off for a new life as a solo hero. She takes in a deep breath and let out a nice big "AH! Finally here!"

The bus takes off and behind her was a shopping plaza. Her stomach growled when she saw the food truck at the parking lot and looked into her wallet to see she only had a few technos left. "It shouldn't hurt to take one bite." She mumbled to herself and headed on over.

"Hey, what'll it be?" The owner asked, a bit monotone. Rakal stared at the menu and smiled. "One burrito please." She ordered and he started to cook it lickity split. "Here ya go, that'll be five technos." He handed her the precious burrito as she hands him the money.

Rakal takes the burrito and started to look for a place to sit as the sky turned red, alarms started to ring out, and the clouds shift. A huge box started to fall from the sky. Rakal noticed it was about to land on her, so she blast fire out of her hands, and used it to get out of the way. The box opens to reveal a huge red robot. "You Lakewood Losers are done for!" The robot declared and started to attack the plaza.

Rakal was pretty shocked by this, she didn't expect bad guys to attack a normal shopping center. She contemplated on what she should do, she never fought a giant robot before. "Maybe I could blast myself up there and aim for the- What the-??" She gasped and saw a teen girl and a young boy get levitated up in the air and kick/punch the head together.

The head flew across the street and landed in a factory while the body fell back. Rakal looked over the kids as they get praised by their boss.

She was amazed that she had a chance to become the hero she always dreamed of becoming. "Excuse me, mam..." a voice abrupt her fantasy and the kid that beat the robot was tugging at her tee. "Your food kinda got destroyed." He pointed out while his friends clean up the robot parts.

Rakal looked at her hand and saw a really burnt burrito. She sighed and threw it away. She looked down at him and knelled down. "Hey, my name is Rakal. I really liked what you guys did with that robot. You guys must be heroes, right?" She introduced herself and complimented at how awesome they were.

The boy laughed, blushing a bit and waved a hand. "Nah, we work at Gar's Bodega. Nothing special. Oh and I'm KO!" KO grinned and shake Rakal's hand. Rakal couldn't help but laugh at how cute he was, but was interrupted by her stomach growling. She quickly covered it up and looked at KO to see he had heard it.

"Come on, we got some lightning nachos I'm sure you'll love." KO takes her hand and dragged her inside Gar's. He quickly prepped up the nachos and put some blue goop on them. Rakal eyed it before taking a bite and jumped at the small shock she got. "Wow, these are good. How much are they?" She asked as she searched for her wallet.

"For today, it's on me. Take it as a welcome to Lakewood Plaza Turbo gift." He smiled and ran back outside to finish cleaning. Rakal smiled after him and started to chow down on the nachos. She felt her fingers tingle and saw a little lightning at her fingertips.

She laughed to herself and tried to make it a little bigger, but a tiny flame overtakes it. With a shrug, she grabbed her bags and walked out. She thought to herself she could probably get use to this place.

Rakal walked over to Riot City, she had saved enough to rent out a studio apartment for a few months and just had to find it. A few hours passed and she still hasn't found it. She wished that she brought her phone, but she was pretty sure her parents had it bugged. Groaning now, she sat on a bench to collect her thoughts.

A guy walked by, holding a leash attached to a little mouse girl, and looked over at Rakal. He dug into his lab coat and set it next to her. She heard the small thump and looked down to see ten technos. She looked over to see the guy disappear into the crowd.

She took the bill and continues on her search, deciding to head towards where the guy was heading. A few blocks later, she found it! She took the ten technos and gave it a big kiss before heading up the stairs to her new home.

She quickly unpacked and decided to pin the bill to the wall, as a reminder to never give up. She couldn't help but yawn and takes out her sleeping bag to fall asleep. Tomorrow, she'll start looking for a new job that'll finally let her use her powers for good. Maybe that plaza would be a good place to start.
