"Ya know, you still haven't told me that much about yourself"

"Yeah well, I wouldve thought you learned enough about me considering you never leave my house" I mutter.

"I swear i will push you off the couch" Jefferson says. He managed to convince me to take a break and watch a movie.

"You do that and i punch you. Your move."

"But c'mon, seriously. You told me about your crummy childhood and how you were a jerk to some of the richest people in New York, but that cant be all"

"Geez, you sound like angelica when she's run out of gossip. How about this, for everything i tell you, you have to do the same"

"Deal"

"Ok... Well im an asshole-"

"Everyone knows that" he jokes.

"Shut up. Let's see, I cheated on eliza with angelica... its a long story. I wasted Herc's beer, cursed Laf out in french, and killed a turtle"

"Holy shit! How'd you kill a turtle?"

"Well I meant that more figuratively... But I did overfeed a turtle."

"What do you mean, 'figuratively'?"

I shifted uncomfortably before pausing the movie. "Well. I basically killed the relationship I had with john and now hes dead. Although technically that relationship ended badly yet on good terms."

"Wow. I once dated James Madison and this girl named Sally Hemings." He reaches for the bowl of popcorn but i block him.

"Huh. Did you know that Adams is gay?"

"Pfft there's no way! He has a girlfriend"

"Just proves why fate and true love don't exist. Yes, she is his soulmate. But like me, that doesnt mean he has to like them"

He reaches for the popcorn again but i swat his hand away. "So what made you think this?"

"We may have gotten drunk and messed around a bit. Probably part of why he hates me"

"Jesus Christ! Is there anyone you haven't fucked?"

"Lee. Seabury. Burr. A few people at various coffee shops. Majority of the people at the bar. You. Im not a complete dirtbag"

"Wow. You learn something new everyday..."

"Well if you're not going to share anything else, id like to get back to the movie" i say while unpausing it.

"Ya gotta give me some popcorn then."

"Ha ha... Go die in a hole. This is mine"

He glares at me. "Fine. Then mind explaining to me how you cheated on Eliza?"

"Heh... Yeah sure..."

Flashback

"Burr, for the last time, I dont need a ride home!" I slurred.

"I literally watched you drink 5 cups beer, pass out, and wake up to drink another 7 cups. You shouldnt even be allowed near your car" he says before taking out his phone.

I ignore Burr and stumble outside towards my car. It took me 15 minutes to actually find my keys but he stopped me before I could drive. Turns out Burr had called Angelica and I was riding with her.

I grabbed another cup before getting in her car. I honestly didnt know it was Angelica until Burr said so. And even then i didnt realize who it was.

"Ugh. I dont see why I had to get called..." she muttered. "Burr was already there. I dont see why he couldn't drive you home"

"Yeah, stupid burr." I took a sip from my cup but quickly spit it out. "Hey! He switched my beer for water!"

We got to a house which I was assuming. I managed to find my way to the front door and fumbled with the doorknob for at least 5 minutes. As soon as i got inside though, angelica pinned me to a wall and kissed me.

I had no idea what was going on, so i kissed back. I took off my shirt and embarrassed myself 10 seconds later by falling after attempting to take off my pants with the belt still on. What can i say? I'm an idiot when drunk.

Some time later, Eliza walked in on us and looked like she wanted to kill me. She wouldnt let me explain, so i got dressed just before i got kicked to the curb. Literally. I had to walk home covered in dirt.

"Eliza forgave me eventually but never believed me when i said it was Angelica's fault"

"Well yeah, obviously. Thats her sister" thomas scoffs.

"Yeah, but that's like me defending james after he got away with murder" i mutter.

"Ok. Way different scenario but I see your point"

"Anyway... That whole incident is probably why i changed my views on things. Why I dont believe in true love." I set the bowl on the table before shifting again. "I mean... What's the point of love if it doesnt last forever?"

Thomas put his arm around me and moves so I'm leaning on him.

"I believe the point is to fail and try again until you find the person whos willing to stand by your side no matter the situation."
