More Than my Twin

Chapter 5

(1 week later)
*Cory POV*
Yesterday Coby and I got back from New Orleans and spreading our parents ashes. Today we have work and I don't think we are really doing anything except for catching up with what has been going on while we were away. I look my the time and see that it's almost 10:30. I finish getting ready and head to my car. Just as I start my car my phone rings.
Cor-yes Coby
Cob-my car is still at Chads.
Cor-Alright. I'll be at your place in five minutes then after work I'll take you to get your car from chad.
I hang up and drive to my brothers place. I arrive and he climbs in the car. I drove off once he's buckled and head towards work.
"How are you" he asks
"You just saw me less than 24 hours ago" I say
"I know but it could change how you're doing" he says
"I'm doing fine. I finally got caught up on my sleep by going to bed at 7:30 and waking up at 8:30. Slept 13 hours" I say
"I slept 14 hours. Went to bed at 6:30. As soon as we got home." He says
"Aren't you special" I say
I pull in at DPHQ just as Chad and Tim are getting here. Chad is driving Coby's car. Chad tosses Coby his keys and we all go inside and to our offices.
"Twins let's go. Time to talk" Tyler yells
"I'm coming" we both say
I finish the last thing I'm working on and then head to the main room. I sit down on the couch next to my twin and wait for someone to speak.
"First off how are you two doing" Garrett asks
"Yeah you two okay" Cody asks
"It's still a little hard knowing we can't talk to them or ever see them again but you know going to New Orleans and spreading their ashes brought some closure. Well for me at least" I say
"Yeah. Same goes for me. I mean there are things I wish I could've gotten to tell them before they passed but I know this is all for a reason just a reason we don't fully know yet." Coby says
"Hey we're here for you. This is just a pot hole in the road of life. It will get filled and gotten over but not forgotten so we need to start working on filling and fixing it" Tyler says
"That was very deep" I say
"It really was. Wow ty didn't know you had that in you" Garrett says
"I didn't know I had it in me either" Tyler says
We talk a little more about random things then realize it is time we should eat lunch.
"You okay Cobes? You've been very quiet" I say
"No I'm good" he says
"You want to come with me to get lunch for everyone" I ask
"Uh sure" he says
We get up and head out to my car.
*Coby POV*
As everyone was talking, I was contemplating if I should tell Cory about my feelings or not. I already told him that I didn't really feel the same but I do. I mean I didn't know about it then but I do now. Mom and dad never found out that I was gay. I guess the guys know. I don't know if they do or not. My thinking gets interrupted my brother asking to go with him to get lunch. I agree and we go to his car. He starts it up and drives off.
"You sure you're good" he asks
"I'm positive. Just doing a lot of thinking" I say
"What are you thinking about" he asks
"Why does it matter? Just let's get the food and go back" I say
He nods and drives to somewhere. He gets the food and drives back to DPHQ. As soon as we get back I go to my office and lock and close the door. I sit at my desk and close my eyes laying my head on my desk. Why does life have to be so complicated. It would be so easy if I didn't have feelings for my brother. If I didn't work with my brother. If I knew he didn't have feelings for me. Ugh. I sit in my office for quite some time just thinking and listening to people knocking on my office door. It finally come to five o'clock and I gather my stuff, unlock my door, and try to leave without being noticed.
"Coby" I hear
Like I said. I tried. I turn around and see the guys here and playing pool. I set my stuff down and go over to the.
"Yeah" I ask
"You okay? You didn't eat lunch and stayed in your office the whole time" Tyler says
"I've just been thinking about a lot of stuff." I say
"Alright well remember you can talk to any of us. We will all listen. That includes Chad and Tim" Cody says
"Thanks guys" I say
Garrett hands me his pool stick and I see that it's just me facing my brother and my brother is winning.
"Garrett did you get any in yet" I ask
"No. Your brother hasn't given me any good shots" he says
I shake my head knowing that he had shots yet he didn't know how to make them.
"Coby it's your turn" Tyler says
"Hold on before they continue. Let's take bets on who is gonna win. Loser or losers buy everyone dinner." Cody says
"Alright. I say Coby" Garret says
"I also say Coby" Tyler says
"Ty come on man" Cory says
"He's always been team Coby bro. Remember" I say
"I'm going with Cory" Cody says
"Thank you Cody. Cobes it's your turn. Clearly you can see that Garrett was stripes" Cory says
I nod and look at the table. I take my first shot and get the 10 ball in. I go again and get the 11 and 9 ball in. I go again and get the 15 ball in. I go for the 12 ball and miss. I now have three left and Cory has two then we both have the 8 ball. I look at Garrett who is standing next to my and his mouth is open wide.
"What" I ask
"That was amazing" he says
"Eh. Not my best. I can sometimes clear the table in one turn" I say
"Cobes your turn. Pay attention" Cory says
I look back and see three perfect shots. I get the 12 ball. Then the 13 ball and finally I get in the 14 ball.
"Alright Coby call your shot" Cory says
"Alright. Someone flip a coin. Heads I do the easy shot. Tails I do the harder shot" I say
Cody nods and flips the coin and it lands on heads. I look at the table and the eight ball is dead smack in the middle while the cue ball is about two ball lengths away and a bit to the right.
"Alright. Hit the eight ball off the left side between the middle and left pocket. Then it will bounce off and go in the right front. pocket." I say
"That's the easy shot" Garrett asks
"Yeah. Is this why you had my brother take over for you" Cory asks
"Yeah" Garrett says
"Just take the shot" Tyler says
I take the shot and the eight ball lands in the front right pocket after bouncing off the left wall between the middle and left pocket.
"Good game bro" Cory says
"You knew I was going to win didn't you" I ask
"Of course. You have always been better at pool then me" he says
"Alright let's go for dinner. Cody is paying" Garrett says
"Where are we going" Tyler asks
"Coby gets to pick since he won. I'm also only saying this because he won't pick some stupid crazy restaurant unlike you three" Cory says
"Awe thanks twin. I feel so loved" I joke
"Ok ok just pick where we are going. I'm starving" Cody says
"Cody 'tall guy' Jones. How dare you say you're starving. You are not starving. Children in India are starving. Children in Haiti are starving. Children in Africa are starving. You are not starving. You might be hungry but the amount of food you eat could feed probably 50 kids who are starving and they'd feel full and there would still be food left over. You are not starving. You are just hungry and hopeless" I say
"Wow man. Those words. Those words were deep and sharp. They cut right through my thick thick skin" Cody says wiping at his eyes
"Coby Cotton everyone. Inspirational speaker and billiards champion" Tyler says
"Yay. Woohoo. Now let's go eat. I am hungry. Not starving. Hungry" Cody says
"Very good Cody. You learned your lesson" I say
"Alright but seriously where are we eating at" Garret asks
"Um Tim's BBQ" I say
"Yes" Cory cheers
"Why is it always barbecue with you two" Tyler asks
"Because it's good" we say
"Yeah yeah yeah" Cody says
We all grab our stuff and go to our separate vehicles. I get in my car, start it up, and then lead the way to dinner. I arrive and the others aren't right behind me. I go in and get a table for five. After a few minutes everyone is finally at the table.
"Alright. I know I'm paying but remember the rules for these places. No steak or anything above $35" Cody says
"Yeah yeah we know" Garrett says
We start off with ordering the drinks then Cody starts conversation.
"What video are we doing next and when" he asks
"We are doing a battle video but not for a few weeks." Tyler says
"So I can take vacation time" Cody asks
"You took some for three days last week while the twins were gone" Garrett says
"Allison wants to take the girls on another random trip" Cody says
"It sounds like fun. You can have four days off" Cory says
"Since when did you become the person to give people off" Tyler says
"Um we all are co-founders. Technically he doesn't even really need to ask off. He just needs to make sure nothing interferes and then just let us know he is taking off. However he should realize that he only gets 45 days to call off. In a year. He has already used 13 and we are in July" Cory says
"Yeah I know" Cody says
Our drinks come and then we order food. As we wait for our food we continue to talk. Once the food arrives Cory prays then we eat. We finish dinner and thank Cody then I head to my car. I start it and see that I need to get gas. I go to the gas station and fill up my car then drive to my brothers house. I have to tell him. I have to tell him sooner or later. Then I guess we'll have to tell the guys. But how should I tell my brother. Before I even realize it, I am at the front door and knocking. The door opens and Cory is standing there. Butterflies erupt and I look down at my hands.
"Coby you just saw me. What's up? Is something wrong" he asks
"Um no. Nothings wrong" I say
"Come inside" he says
I walk in and we go to the living room. We sit on the couch and look at each other. We look in each other's eyes and we start to lean in. Our lips touch and move in sync as we kiss each other. Cory pulls away and I look at him.
"You asked if I liked you and I told you no. I said no because I was scared. I didn't know what I felt. I never told anyone I was gay till I told you. But Cory I do like you. You are always there for me and I want to always be there for you" I say
"I like you to Coby. I want to protect you for the rest of your life. Will you be more than my twin and be my boyfriend" Cory asks
"Of course" I say
He pecks my lips and I smile.
"We need to tell the guys tomorrow" I say
"They'll be able to tell. We don't need to tell them. Let's let them figure it out themselves" Cory says
"Okay" I say, "it's getting late. I should head home"
"You can spend the night. I know you don't like driving when it is really late" Cory says
"Ok. Thank you" I say
We go to his room and he gives me something to wear to bed. We get changed then climb in bed under the covers. I lean against him and he wraps his arms around me. I drift off to sleep listening to the gentle beat of his heart.
