Chapter 3

3 moons later (Amberkit is now 6 moons.)
Amberkit twitched her ears as a shove woke her up. Amberkit looked up, blinking her eyes in confusion of who woke her up. She relaxed when she saw, IvyStream. Amberkit purred at IvyStream while she gave Amberkit a quick groom "today is a big day for you and the clan," said IvyStream seriously "your going to become a apprentice" Amberkit gasped with delight. Thornkit shot a jealouse glance at Amberkit while Fernkit looked at Amberkit with pure happiness.
Amberkit knew why her adopted mother told her it was a big day for her and her clan to. The three apprentices, Redpaw, Sunpaw, and Jaypaw turned into warriors a quarter moon ago. Redpaw was now Redreed, Sunpaw was now Sunflower, and Jaypaw was Jaybird now. That left Bayclan with no apprentices now. Amberkit mewed in protest as her adopted mother groomed her feircly. "You have to look perfect" fussed IvyStream. Amberkit grumbled in reply.
A few moments later,what felt like moons, there was a yowl outside the nursery. Amberkit jumped to her paws and ran out of the nursery,Thornkit and Fernkit hard on her paws. Shardstar had jumped onto the rock.
"All cats old enough to catch their own prey join here beneath the bay rock to hear me speak," Shardstar yowled. Amberkit ran to the base of the Bay rock with Fernkit besides her. "Everybody remembers, Amberkit, correct?" Shardstar meowed to every cat. He didn't wait for an answer "Today we will be doing her apprentice ceremony."
Amberkits paws tingled with excitement. "Amberkit come forward" Amberkit padded up to Shardstar. "From this day forward, until she has earned her warrior name, this apprentice will be called Amberpaw." Amberpaw's paws tingled with nervousness and excitement of her who her mentor would be. "Snaketuft, you will be Amberpaw's menter."
Amberpaw watched as Snaketuft padded up to her. "Snaketuft you are a great fighter, I hope you pass everything you know on to this apprentice." Snaketuft bend down to touch noses with Amberpaw, and Amberpaw touched noses with him.Amberpaw looked proudly around the clearing as Fernkit and IvyStream called out her new name. "Amberpaw! Amberpaw! Amberpaw! Amberpaw!" Amberpaws purr stopped as she noticed only two cats had came to congratulate her. "Training starts tomorrow," Snaketuft whispered in Amberpaws ear. "Now go to your new nest." Amberpaw nodded and trotted over to the apprentice den.
   When Amberpaw padded in, their were three nests of moss. Amberpaw decided to take the one in the very corner.
She lied down in the nest and rested her head on her front paws. Now my life's gonna be sad. Am the only apprentice, that means no friends. Amberpaw thought sadly. Perhaps I can visit Fernkit sometime. Then Amberpaw remembered her mother. And she felt a wave of grief as she closed her eyes and fell asleep.
