The first to arrive is Michelle. The doorbell is pressed repeatedly, and while Arthur gets up to answer the door, I anxiously adjust my shirt and feel my braid for any flyaway strands. When a girl about my age enters the room, I smile nervously. She has tanned, dark skin, dark brown hair in pigtails with red hair bands, and golden brown eyes. She gives me a big grin and flings herself around me, squeezing tightly. I feel my hair slowly rise in confusion, wondering if I need assistance fighting off this enemy. I reluctantly hug her back.

“Hi!” Michelle greets happily. “You must be Tally, the one who called me yesterday, right?” Arthur raises his eyebrows at this, wondering why I would call her.

“Yeah, that’s me! You must be Michelle!”

“Of course! I hope you don’t mind, but I need to unpack. I brought Christmas presents for everyone!” She explains, turning and fleeing out the door, only to return a few seconds later, out of breath, carrying about ten or fifteen large boxes that are wrapped in red and blue paper.

“You can set those under the tree.” I inform, and she does so, leaving the house again to grab her bags. I glance at Arthur curiously.

“Yes, she is always this… Jubilant… When she comes to visit.” He says. She reenters, a small backpack on her back.

“Where am I going to be sleeping tonight?” She asks. I look to Arthur.

“I don’t know yet…” He answers slowly. “I have approximately three guest rooms. You can go up there and pick one, if you would like. I know that you and Mona should share one, Alfred and Matthew can share, and Francis will – and by ‘will’, I mean, he must and shall – have the last room to himself. I do not want any interruptions in this household.”

“Alright. But where will Tally be sleeping?” Michelle questions, looking at me. I advert my glance, glaring at the wooden floor beneath me.

“She sleeps in my room with me.” He answers blatantly, face flushing a little. Michelle nods, giving me a small wink before heading up to pick out a room. I hear a small call down, saying that she’s staying in the room with the piano. I nod in approval.

For an hour, we sit downstairs, Michelle and I getting to know each other. We both bond immediately over the fact that we’re both islands, and we really like swimming and water and warm weather. She says that she wants to come visit soon, and that she really likes the amount of diversity in my country. I respond with how much I like her animal assortment, and grumble about how I don’t have such wild breeds. The door bell rings again, and I get up to answer it, opening it with my mind.

“Hey, Tally!” Alfred shouts in joy, swooping me up in a bone crunching hug of strength. I squeak as I feel my back crack.

“H-hey… Alfred… You-you’re killing me…” I wheeze. I see that Matthew is right behind him, and he gives a small wave. When Alfred releases me, I give Matthew a small hug, and invite them both in, saying to bring their stuff from their own taxi in as well. They pick a guest room upstairs, and place whatever presents they brought under the tree. We all talk happily down in the living room, and I explain why my braid is floating behind me, showing how I can fly and move around. Alfred gets in the grumps, complaining to Arthur why he didn’t get any powers. Arthur remains silent, face turning red in annoyance. I talk to Matthew about what he’s heard from Ivan, if anything, and he says that after Ivan and he cancelled their alliance, he hasn’t heard anything. I explain cautiously about the fact of the weird pact between Ivan, Yao, and Roderich, and those who haven’t heard about it nod solemnly.
