"Fyodor, no."

The man's hand struggled in the tense grip (Y/n) countered it with. Karma's mouth trembled, hand automatically reaching for his neck. Finding that the collar was gone already, he dropped his hand silently.

"No witnesses, (Y/n)," Fyodor said. His voice was like the surface of a lake. Serene. Smooth. Reflective of his unbothered nature.

"Karma is fine," (Y/n) mumbled through gritted teeth. Why are you doing this? You have to write the plot exactly as the manga.

But the haunted face of the girl from earlier stood out in their mind, along with the other employees Fyodor "liberated". (Y/n) let out a hacking cough, unable to meet eye contact with their companion.

"He will have nowhere to run and will die anyways. By my hand, at least he is receiving a blessing," Fyodor brushed his hands against (Y/n)'s shoulder, mouth set in a straight line. "Do you disagree with me again, (Y/n)?"

Their eyes widened in horror. (Y/n) was seriously conflicted—but they steered themselves.

Write the story the way it should be.

"Fine," (Y/n) sighed, defeated. "Karma, I—"

"Oh?"

The boy was nowhere to be seen. (Y/n)'s stomach lurched, and they finally wrestled themselves from Fyodor's grip.

"Oh well," Fyodor said. "We are on a boat in the middle of the ocean. I simply just leave him on here and let him rot. Humanity is sweeter when untainted. It's quite unfortunate."

He turned to face a shivering (Y/n). "As for your misdemeanor, we can discuss that later. For now, let us implement the next step of the plan."

"Your drinks have been getting its improvement, (L/n)-san," Dazai said, sipping his usual drink.

"They were always good, Dazai," (Y/n) scoffed, turning their head to attempt mixing another cocktail. After some pregnant silence, (Y/n) sighed and decided to break the conversation again. "Dazai-San..."

The male perked up at the honorific usage. "(L/n)-San."

"I want to join the Agency."

Brown eyes met (e/c). His mouth curved upwards, and he cheerily said, "and why is that, (L/n)?"

(Y/n)'s expression darkened. They rolled up their sleeves. Underneath them were bandages. Dazai's eyes widened a little as he set down his drink.

"Wait," Dazai stammered, but (Y/n) already unraveled their bandages. Underneath them were crisscrossing scars and bruises stained with a purple ointment.

"Oh shit."

"Yeah, that's what I said when I woke up this morning to find this," (Y/n) grumbled. "I could have sworn Fyodor was gonna be nice and all."

"And you think we'll be any nicer, (L/n)? You are talking to another demon," Dazai cheekily poked at (Y/n)'s hand. They grumbled, swatting his prodding away.

"No, but let's say this, Dazai," the bartender sat down a glass and tilted another underneath the golden light, piano music temporarily drowning their verbal musings. Their eyes glinted with an eerie tint. "If you were given two evils to choose from, what would you choose?"

"The lesser?" Dazai smirked. "I hope you took my warning beforehand—"

"No, Dazai," (Y/n) sighed. "I pick the one I haven't done before."
