CHAPTER 13

Katelyn's POV

After yelling at Chris for running, we reached my house. I knew the reason behind her running, and I know it's hard. I just wish I could have been there for her, more than I was. At least I know I can count on Niall, when it comes to this topic.

"Uh, Kate?" Chris asked, before I opened the door.

"Yeah?" I turned to face her.

"I'm sorry for running out. I-it was stupid of me-"

I cut her off. "Chris. It wasn't stupid of you, okay? You couldn't control it. It's not your fault."

I knew she was repeating that sentence over and over, in her head. It's not your fault. It never was. She always said that it was. That she should have seen it coming and that she should have listened to very one and left. I didn't approve of her decision, when she made it some time ago, but I still stuck by her. She would do the same for me.

"Hey," I said. "Let's go to the store. We can buy some junk food. You, me, Emily, and a girl's night."

A grin took over Chris' face. "That would be awesome. And just girls."

I nodded. Chris was so sweet and caring, towards me. It was her shell. She acted all badass -which she can be- around other people. People who were on the outside of her shell. But, she had a good reason. I mean, if I was the one who-

"Kate?" Chris spoke, snapping me out of my thoughts.

"Yeah?"

"Do you want to go into the store, or just stare at it?"

I looked up and realized we had arrived at the store.

"Let's go in." I put my arm around her shoulder and we walked into the store.

I grabbed the shopping cart and we started shopping. Chris ran down the aisles, throwing things into the cart. Chips, popcorn, candy, cookies, more candy. I swear she was a 5 year-old sometimes -but who and I kidding, so was I. When we got to the baking section I grabbed a bunch of sprinkles. Chris knew where I was going, and left to get ice-cream. She came back with multiple little tubs of ice-cream. We waked over to where the frozen pizza. I grabbed around 15 pizzas -what can I say? I loved pizza.

"Ya know, we could call an open 24/7 pizza place, right?" Chris asked, laughing. She knew how much I loved pizza.

"Okay, put I'm still getting 9 boxes." I said. I put back a few boxes, until I only had 9 boxes.

"Okay, time to go." Chris said. "I'll call the pizza place, well you pay."

I nodded. She walked over to the little cafe and pulled out her phone. As she talked, I started loading things onto the converter belt. The girl at the counter scanned my item and put them into the bags. She had long red hair, that made her stormy grey eyes stand out. She looked around my age, maybe 17 or 18. She gave me a smile, showing off her little dimples and white teeth. I looked down at her name tag, which read 'Abby'.

"That will be 68. 19, please." She asked. Her voice had a tint of a British accent in it, but otherwise it was American.

I handed her 70 dollars -not pounds, okay. I'm Canadian. Get your facts straight.

"Keep the change."

"Um, I don't really want to sound creepy, but you seem like a really cool person, so could I have you number?"

I gave her a warm smile. To be honest, it didn't sound that strange, but it would be nice to have more friends. Apparently, I'm not social enough -because being a fangirl is bad. It's awesome, okay. You can go screw you self, if you think otherwise and haven't tried it. So, I pulled out my phone. After I unlocked it, I opened a new contact and handed it to her.

"Sure. I mean, if you aren't some murder. But that skill could come in handy. You should see the people I live with." I said laughing, and she joined in.

"I'm not a murder. But," She looked around like someone could be listening to her and whispered. "I know some people."

I laughed. "That's good to know. Remind me never to get on your bad side. I'm Kate."

"Abby. Anyway, have a good evening." She smiled and started helping the customer, who just walked up to the till.

"You too."

I grabbed the bags -with much difficulty- and walked over to Chris. She just hung up the phone, as I passed her a couple of bags. As we walked out of the store, and to my house, she told me the pizza would be at the house soon. When we walked into the house, we were attacked with hugs. It was hard to keep hold of all the bags. When we were finally free, I looked at Chris. She had a hard look on her face and her poster was uptight. Niall spoke first.

"You guys okay?" He asked, directing the question more at Chris than me.

I nodded. "Yeah. Chis, Em and I are having a girl's night." Em grinned.

"Yeah, so you all need to leave. Unless you changed your gender, you can't stay." Chris' tone was cold, as she spoke.

The boys groaned, but Jake spoke first. "But Chrissy!" He whined.

"Don't call her that. Only I can." I told him. "No leave."

They all complained, well they walked up the stairs. The doorbell rang as we started setting everything up. Michael ran down the stairs, screaming that he would get it, but I already opened the door. An attractive boy -who must have been around my age- stood at the door.

"Here's you pizza. That will be 82.7." He said, pulling out four boxes of pizza. "I don't mean to intrude but, I hope a pretty girl like you isn't eating all this by herself."

I laughed. "No, I have some friends over."

I heard a gasp behind me. "You ordered pizza?!" Michael yelled.

""Yeah, but it's for me and the girls."

I pulled out 85 dollars and handed it to him, telling him to keep the change. He thanked me and handed me the pizza, with a warm smile. I closed the door and tooled at the pizza boxes. The top on had a phone number on it, with 'call me' on the side. I laughed.

"You guys, the pizza boy gave me is number." I told the girls.

"Someone gave Katie his number!" Michael shouted.

"What?!" A voice from upstairs shouted.

"Relax! It's not like I'm going to call him!" I called back.

"Better not." Michael said.

"Michael, please go upstairs." I have him the puppy eyes and an innocent pout.

"Fine."

"Thank you!" I called as he walked up stairs.

"He likes you." Chris stated when he was out of hearing range.

"He does!" Em agreed.

"Whatever helps you sleep at night." I spoke, putting one of the movies we picked into the DVD player.

Michael couldn't like me. It's impossible.
