Addison’s POV
I stood outside of our apartment building helping my grandparents get into their taxi to leave for their cruse.
“Bye sweetie we’ll miss you.” My Grandmother said as she climbed into the car. I hugged her one more time.
“Remember we won’t be able to contact you but if you need anything Miss. Miller is right across the hall.” Grandfather added.
“I’ll be fine.” I reassured them.
“We’ll send you a postcard.”
“Ok. Have fun.” I shut the taxi door and waved till it reached the end of the street.
I shoved my cold hands back in my pockets and turned to make my way to the convention center. I decided to walk instead of skateboarding because it got really cold after it finished raining and made the sidewalks all icy.
I arrived at the convention center to find five boys standing to come and greet me. We all exchanged our hellos and we starting moving constantly as a cold wind blew through.
“Yay you finally made it now let’s get inside before my nose falls off.” Zayn said. I smiled and we all agreed following him inside.
We were hit with warm air as we walked through the doors. I looked around to see several tables set up and lots of girls of many ages standing next to mothers who were signing papers and talking to ladies on the other side of the table.
“Anyone know what we’re supposed to do?” Niall asked. We all just stood in confusion looking around the room.
“Well it looks like the tables are labeled with what looks like age numbers. We must have to register you at your age’s table.” Liam said after the short pause.
“Oh you’re so smart.” Louis added and I started looking for where 17 might be.
“Over there! It says ’16-18’ in poke-a-dots.” I pointed over to the table with a line of teenage girls lined up, all who looked like they have done this before.
We made our way over there and I took a spot at the end of the line. The boys didn’t want to make a big scene so they went over to a bench and sat down to wait.
I looked around to see who my competition might be and I knew I was probably doomed. Most of them had tall bodies with perfect sized everything. I saw some look at me when I looked at them but I just adverted my eyes as soon as they laid eyes on me. I could feel them judging me but I tried not to care. One girl I recognized. It was Natalie Parker. She was the most popular girl in school and had every boy at her high heels drooling for her like dogs. She never liked me and I never really like her. She was rich, stuck up and bratty always getting what she wanted, if she didn’t it got dirty. It was last year in Art class was when she noticed that I existed. I accidently tripped and dumped permanent blue paint all over her white mini skirt and sandals. For a while she took it out on me but then over summer break I think she forgot about me. She knows what I look like and she knows my name but she just never has put them together. She didn’t see me and I was glad. I didn’t want to make eye contact with her. If she sees me and learns my name I know she will do everything to make my life terrible again. That’s what she does. But not many people know that.
I made it to the front of the line and the lady on the other side smiled at me.
“Hello dear. What’s your name?” she asked.
“Addison Taylor.” I said trying not to stutter.
She started flipping through her stack of papers and then stopped and looked up at me. “Have you already registered?”
