Harry’s POV

As we were walking out of the building to the car I saw that Addison had a worried looked on her face.  She was walking slower and a little more stiff than normal, I wonder what’s on her mind. How did she say her dad died? That’s right, a car wreck. She must still be really shaken up about that.

I saw that she had a little bit of hesitation before she started to slide into the van next to Lou.

“No,” He said stopping her “I’m sorry but Harry gets to sit next to me.”

‘Sorry’ I mouthed. She did a little forced closed-mouth smile and I sat next to Lou putting her at the window.

After buckling her seatbelt, she sat on her hands and had a blank stare towards the floor. Knowing how the rest of the boys can start to get a little crazy during trips I bet they would start to make her nervous. I could tell that she was trying to hold back on her actions by the way she started to bite her lip, almost like she was in thought.

I wanted to comfort her so badly, tell her that everything will be ok and there is nothing to worry about. But the streets aren’t something you can predict. Paul is a very safe driver I can assure that but once the radio is on every song is a must-sing and distractions are likely.

Once everyone was in the car and the door was shut we were ready to be off toward the mall. Because it was on the other side of the city it would probably take about 10 minutes to get there.

Paul started the car and I saw her tense up. If I don’t comfort her I will feel guilty for I don’t know how long.

The song that was on the radio just happened to be Starships. Zayn, Liam and Niall in the back seat were on their phones and Lou was bobbing his head to the music. Addison and I were just sitting there awkwardly. She was looking out the window with the corner of her eye, keeping her head straight. Every time we would pass an intersection she would flinch. The car stopped at a red light and I saw her relax a tad. I finally put up with myself.

“You know you’re safe with me.” I smiled at her and she turned up toward me, smiling back. She removed one of her hands from under her and reached toward my hand on my lap. She grabbed it, clutching it lightly between her palm and thumb. Her hand was warm and slightly sweaty, probably from nerves. I gently grasped it back as a reassuring that I would always be there for her. She turned back to the window as she was looking way more relaxed in the face but still tight in the shoulders.

I heard the boy’s phones ring with incoming messages that Lou probably sent them as he was mumbling along to the music. Now the whole back seat knew that Addison and I were holding hands. Throughout the rest of the ride, Addison started humming along to the radio. Written in the Stars came on and everyone else started to sing along as Lou kept singing the strong notes and the boys on the back seat was trying to nail the rap part. I looked to Addison and shrugged; she just laughed and continued watching the boys. Just seeing her becoming more comfortable with me and the boys makes me happy.
