Triggered, Haunting and Past

Peridot POV

I returned back to the dorm because it started to get really late after hanging out with Topaz, who wanted to show me a drone she created during her bioengineering class. my eyes lit up with sparkles soon as I seen the spectacular invention, with it's dual core processors and 360° cameras, heavily reinforced metal and- ahem, anyway I decided it was time to return home as I was starting to feel exhaustion overcome me from such an overwhelming first day.

Searching for my keys in my backpack I found them, an unlock the room door. it was kinda dark, besides from the lights Lapis hung up that illuminated the room along with the blue screen of the TV "Hey Lazu-.." I go to speak but instead was greeted by a visibly upset and shooken Lapis.

"And this concludes today's live news report about the escaped convict of Delmarva State Penitentiary, back to you Donna" . The news reporter spoke, in the backdrop,I took notice to what looked like to be an old run down building,a prison. they switched back an the other woman, Donna, began to talk about other things such as weather forecast an what not. But before the switch I caught a glimpse of the footnote Live report, Escaped convict and murderer Jasper Quartz. Damn a murderer broke out  of prison? I thought to myself.

"Lapis..are you-okay?" I placed a hand on Lapis shoulder and she jumped almost about two feet into the air, scaring pumpkin and kitten. her eyes looked like they were full of fear? "O-oh...Peridot.." I looked at her concerned, eyebrows furrowed. "Lapis..what's wrong? Are you okay? "  I retreated my hand not sure to comfort her or not "Im no..i-its fine, its ...nothing..sorry for startling you" she looked away her bangs covering her eyes, biting her lower lip. she was shaking.

I hate to see her upset like this, what the hell happened?  I sit down next to her, pumpkin being an emotionally trained support dog, obviously knew something was up for she tries to comfort her. She pets pumpkin, scratching behind her ear, which she seems to enjoy, giving a small smile. "Lapis you can tell me anything you know? Your my best friend, I'm here now, and whatever it IS that's bothering you, I'll listen. So what's wrong? " Silence, as she still avoided the question, not looking at me. I sigh deeply "I understand.. whenever your ready" and with that i got up, making my way to my room. Of course she probably wont tell me what's wrong, it's been years, so why would she trust me now after popping up after so long, I left her but I had no choice or say so. As I closed the door behind me, i reclinded against, slowly my backside down until meeting the floor an then pulling my knees to my chest burying my face into my arms and I sigh deeply.  It's all my fault, I was the only friend, SHE was my only friend, I felt like I could be myself around and I knew what she was going through yet, I left- I was interrupted  by small scratching noises at my door and slightly cracked it open to see the cause of the noise, it was just kitten. as he squeezed his way into my room. "Hey kitten" I smiled softly petting him, he just purr and meow rubbing against my hand, he was small enough, so he squeezed his way onto my lap, curling into a tiny ball. "How is it that you always know boy" he just meows again, rubbing his head against my chin then lick my face because I didn't realize a tear fell from my eyes, I smile slightly as I continue to stroke his soft fur.

Lapis POV

Peridot returned and I was warped into my own world of anxiety, I didn't realize her existence until I felt a hand placed on my shoulder. I thought my soul left my body because I jumped almost two feet into the air, "Are you-alright?" It was just Peridot, "O-oh Peridot.." I looked at her then looked away, a mixture of embarrassment but also pain for her to see me this way, she kept trying to consult me, asking me if I was okay an that I can talk to her about anything but... I-I couldnt. What would she think of me if I told her I was accused of murder, my abusive and possessive relationship, yes Jasper was possessive and physically abusive but I was no better. and to make it worse I even tried to kill her. What would Peridot think of me then, I couldn't bare it. I felt my PTSD start to  kick in more but I felt even worse knowing I was pushing Peridot away. But it was for her own good. "How is it that you always know girl? " I smile softly as pumpkin happily wags her tail as I scratch behind her ears, attempting to comfort me knowing I was upset. "LOOK Lapis, you can tell me anything- i-im, your my bestest friend, and whatever IT IS that's bothering you can tell me, because I'm here for you now. So tell me what's wrong?" I appreciated she was trying, but I couldn't, awkward silence engulfed us for a good five minutes or more, I couldn't meet her gaze, those big green eyes, I couldn't bare the thought of them turning full of sparkling life as she gazed softly at me into complete disgust if I did. she finally gave in with a deep sigh then left going to her room, "I'm sorry...but I can't" I lowly mutter feeling a tear fall from my eye, pumpkin licks my face "thanks girl" I plant a soft kiss on the top of her head. "let's go to bed...we have a long day tomorrow too" i turn off the tv staring at the black screen for a moment, woof, pumpkin snaps me out of my trance "Yeah your right girl, were fine everything will be okay" I go to my room, laying in my bed. Just you wait! I'll get you bitch! I shut my eyes tight trying to fight back the image from the day at the court house Jasper looked at me with those sinister eyes. "Everything is going to be okay" I reached for pumpkin again stroking her soft fur. That night it poured down raining, a very bad rainstorm but the cracking of thunder and the flash of lightning soothed me to sleep as the sound of rain tapping against the window.

Bzzz bzzz, I got a vibration from my phone but I was too tired after my episode calmed down to check it.

Phone: notification text from Connie M.

Connie M. : HEY LAPIS ITS CONNIE, CALL ME WHEN YOU CAN PLEASE ITS URGENT!!! ITS ABOUT STEVEN!

Third Person POV

It poured that night, as Peridot and Lapis slept peacefully. From across the other side of the University was a park, there stood a silhouette of a masculine broad shouldered icon, with a mass of untamed hair. Darkness and rain engulfed the figurine completely as they stood under the tree admiring the humongous campus from afar. The only thing you could make out was their sharp pearl white teeth curled up into a huge grin and the glowing of their amber eyes burning with fire.

Sorry I didn't want to go over the 1000 word count so it's a short of kind of short chapter, heh but what can you say .
