Kayla's POV
Day 3 is here, this is gonna be fun. It's the first day that we actually have a workout. You train with the coach for a little bit, then you train with the team and your mentor, that's after lunch.
I hate waking up early, but I don't wanna be sore, so I do some stretches and roll out my legs and arms with a foam roller. I then go wake up Sami.
"Sam, wake up.... breakfast time." I shake her awake. "Seriously get the fuck up!" I push her out of the bed.
"What the heck Kay!" She says groggily while standing up. "Did you really have to push me out of the bed?" She asks me. I just shrug, "Sam I heard that if we get there early, and start our workout, because coach will be there early, and if we start early, means we finish earlier... that sounds better, because then we can go to the beach we saw, before sundown like everyone else has to go at that time... huh?"
That gets her up and moving, the earlier we finish our workouts with coach, the faster we can work with our mentors, the faster we get done with that, the faster we can go to the beach... Malibu beach.
After about 20 minutes we're out the door heading towards the dinning hall for breakfast. We both get a protein shake with fruit on the side, and some toast, yes boring. But it's better to have a light breakfast so that way you aren't sluggish on the field.
As we walk towards the field goofing around, "what did you do when Nate asked you out?" I asked her again, I couldn't believe it, not even the first time. "Well one I said no, because I don't think of him that way. Two I'm pretty sure he's gay, and he's just using me as a beard, and that's not something I'm okay with. Just be yourself, if someone's got a problem with it. They can go fuck themselves. Three, he's like a brother to me, it'd be weird to date him. Plus doesn't he know I'm talking to someone?" Sam asks tilting her head to the side, "I'm pretty sure I mentioned Danny while talking to Nate once..." She trails of and stops walking.
I stop and look back at her, "what?" I ask her. She points behind me, I turn and my jaw drops, standing not even two yards away from us, was Jill Ellis, the coach of the USWNT, the one person who could make or break my dream. She was talking to a summer class student. She then smiles and turns to us.
She walks towards Sami and I. "Ahh, just the girls I was coming to see." She smiles softly, "you are Kayla Evans and Samantha Daniels am I correct?" Sam quickly nods her head at her question. She was talking to us. Us, as in Sam and I.
"Good, your coach said it was okay to relive you of your workouts of the day, and come with the team and I, to our friendly." She just casually mentions that like it's no big deal. Omg omg omg! I'm having a mental break down. There's no way that Jill Ellis is talking to us right now, and asking us to come with the team to the a friendly. Nope, this has got to be a dream. No freaking way. I'm dreaming this. I didn't realize that was anything was happening until I started to feel light headed.
"Kay! Kayla!" Sam was shouting in front of me. "Breathe. Deep breath in, and out." I did what she instructed to do, and kept doing it until I felt my heart rate return back to normal as well as my breathing. "Sorry, she has anxiety, and sometimes a word can trigger an attack, or even something unbelievable, or scary can send her into one immediately." Sam explains for me.
Once I feel better, I look at Sam, "thanks girly." She just nods and smiles in acceptance, she was the first one and the only one to know about something inside of me, because she's one of the most accepting people I know. I then look back at Jill Ellis, "This is real right. Not a Dream?" I ask her, Jill just nods and smiles, "this is very real Miss Evans. Alex told me yesterday how promising you were as an athlete, as well as you Miss Daniels. Your coach confirmed it for me this morning. I would like it if you to would travel with us today, instead of training with your coach. That way you can meet the whole team on their own accords. Get to know the staff, as well as the idea of the game from the standpoint of the National Level. Are you guys in?" Jill asks.
I look at Sam, we were silently contemplating this whole idea, by doing this, we could be fast tracking our careers, also with doing this, we don't get the summer camp we were promised, and our parents money for this is going down the drain. After what felt like five minutes but was only like 30 seconds we smiled at each other and turned back to Jill.
"We're in." We said at the same time. Jill smiles softly, "great. Head back to your dorm, grab your soccer gear and meet me at the front gate in about a half an hour."
She then walks away leaving Sam and I alone. We both look to each other and squeal. "I can't believe this is happening!" We both start grinning like the Cheshire Cat, before bolting off back to our rooms.
When we get there, we start packing up stuff we might need. "Wait Sam, what if we can't even sit with the team... it wouldn't be worth it." I sigh, I put my cleats in my bag, "I mean, we're not even on the roster."
Sam comes over to me, "Hey, look at the bright side, even if we don't sit with them, we're traveling with them, putting our names in all of the coaches brains. They are going to look at us when it comes time to pick the U17 team and U20 team." "Omg you're right! Let's go, we got about 15 minutes to get to the gate."
She smiles at me before grabbing her packed bags, her phone charger, and her headphones. "Ready. You?" I nod grabbing my stuff and heading towards the door, "wait do you have the room key?" Sam chuckles, "in my sweatpants." She points to her pants pocket then pulls the key out and shows me, then stuffs it back in her pants pocket. "Let's go."
When we finally get there, Jill Ellis is waiting for us holding something. "Good you're here, put your overnight bags in the bottom of the bus, and grab these rucksacks and head into the bus, the girls are already in there and ready to head off." Sam and I walk over to the bus placing our overnight bags in the cargo space of the bus, Jill hands us the rucksacks smiling, "I'm sure you girls will enjoy what's inside." She heads into the bus.
Sami and I look at each other before heading into the bus, we see the entire team in there like "assigned" seats. We take a seat near the front where there are two free seats available.
When I was finally settled I opened my rucksack that Jill gave us, I pulled out the first thing in there and my jaw dropped instantly. It was a jersey. Like an actual USA jersey, with my name on it,
((Ik that these are the old ones, but I don't feel like making new ones with the new jersey's so... suck it. Lol))
