3rd Person's POV
"Jack Sparrow? Captain Jack Sparrow? Owes me four doubloons. Heard he was dead."
A Catina Bartender shrugs looking at the wall, "Heard he ran an off with a creole woman to
Madagascar... half his age and twice his height!"An Officer stands firmly, "-- tried, found guilty and ready to hang... but then he fought off a hundred soldiers at Port Royal, and escaped, God's honest truth, by grabbing two parrots and flying off a cliff. My cousin was there!"
A half blind fisherman ties a bind, "Singapore is what I heard. Drunk, more'n likely. Drunk, with a smile on his face. Sure as Sparrow will turn up.
Scarlett frowns, "I haven't seen him in month. I heard he met Enchantress and the two have been all over each other. It's disgusting. When you find him, give him a message..."
Will nods then feels slap strike his cheek as his head turns sideways.
A shrimper talks as he casts out nets, "Can't say 'bout Jack Sparrow. But there's an island just south of the straits where I trade spice for mmmm, delicious long pork. Can't say for Jack, but you'll find a ship there... a ship with black sails."
The Shrimper lets Will onto his boat as they sail to the island. When they get there the shrimper to the crew. The Black Pearl is careened onto the sand.
"My brother, he will row you to shore."
The two get into the small dingy and row away towards the island. Suddenly, the bug-eyed brother stops the boat, still in shallow water.
"What's wrong? The beach is right there." Will frowns pointing to the island.
The Brother says very quickly in French: "End of the trip. No, end of trip. Trip end. Goodbye!"
He pulls on one oar, turning the boat around. Will has no choice so he jumps out. Will, soaking wet, walks over the sand toward the ship.
He reaches the remains of a campfire and calls out, "Jack! Jack Sparrow! Mister Gibbs! Cat! Anyone ..."
The ship is silent, deserted. Will studies it. Doesn't seem to be anything wrong. Will moves toward the dense jungle. A flutter of wings startle Will. Cotton's parrot flies over landing on a tree limb.
"Good to see a familiar face." Will smiles.
"Don't eat me!"
"I'm not going to eat you."
Will looks in confusion as the parrot quickly flies away towards the ship. He shakes his head wondering what the heck is going on. As he continues through the jungle he comes to a giant palm leaf that is slashed. Will pushes through and comes to a sudden stop. He has spots something in his path; it's Gibbs' flask.
"Gibbs ..."
Will crouches, picks it up then sees a hidden snare of twisted vines. He brushes away leaves, finds the trip wire string attached to the flask. He pockets the flask and follows the string toward a tree.
Suddenly, eyes appear in the tree. It's a man perfectly camouflaged. He grins and reaches out yanking the trip wire. The snare explodes upwards, yanking Will off his feet. He dangles upside down and men from everywhere attack, spears raised. Ruthless and savage: filed teeth, bodies painted and pierced, they wear remnants of their previous victims: hats, vests, necklaces, belts.
Will parries a spear thrust with his sword. He pushes off a tree trunk and attacks, parries another spear.
"Come on! Who's next? I can do this all day!"
A warrior raises a blowgun, and puffs into it.
"I'm ready! Come on! I'm right here-"
A dart slaps into Will's neck, and he goes limp. He is cut down, lifted, carried off, into the jungle.
Will, bound and tied, is dragged through the village of people. Huts were made of sticks, everything else made of bones. A boy emerges from a hut to watch, as Will is carried to the Cannibal Chief.
A crowd of cannibals part. And to Will's surprise, there on the skeleton throne sits Captain Jack Sparrow. Will can't believe his eyes... then grins.
"Jack Sparrow. I can honestly say I am glad to see you."
Will looks to Jack. A blank look in return-- as if Jack has never seen Will before in his life.
The Cannibals display Will proudly. Jack shakes his head and speaks in a language Will doesn't understand-- it's mostly grunts, clicks, and teeth chomping.
"Jack? Jack, it's me, Will Turner. Tell them to let me go."
Jack examines Will. Pinches his arm, inspecting him. Points to Will's groin, shakes his head. Makes a 'snip' gesture. The Cannibals look disappointed.
"Jack. Listen-" he looks down at Jack's belt, noticing the Compass.
"The Compass. That's all I need. Jack-- Elizabeth is in danger. We were arrested-- for helping you. She faces the gallows!"
Jake says nothing as he continues to walk around Will. Suddenly, a girl in body paint, a leaf top, and leaf skirt walks up from behind the throne.
Wills eyebrows furrow as he watches Jack put his arm around the girls waist.
"Who is this? You left Cat? How could you?"
Jack slightly frowns. Cat looks over at Jack in question. He shakes his head so she keeps her mouth shut.
Cat can't believe that Will hadn't recognized her. Well of course last time he saw her she had long hair and now her hair was shoulder length. And with all the body paint and face paint there was no way he could tell.
One of the Cannibals points indicating Will's leg. He rubs his tummy, the meaning is clear: this is good eating. The Warrior Cannibal nods, makes a throat-slitting gesture.
Jack shrugs, and nods saying something and the Cannibals laugh. He makes a sweeping gesture to take Will away. The cannibals cheer, and grab Will.
"What did you tell them? No!"
Jack doesn't answer. As they drag Will past, he whispers out of the corner of his mouth two words, "Save us."
Will frowns -- Jack is the Chief, what's going on? And us? Why did he want the girl? But there is real desperation in Jack's eyes.
