Milagros grumbled to herself all the way on the drive to school while mentally cursing Ms. Maria for giving her detention. What type of mental school gives detention in the morning? Oh right, this one.

Milagros arrived at school and started to park the car in her usual spot when she sees a shiny black whatever-brand motorcycle already parked there. She threw her hands up in the air. "Can't a girl just catch a break around here?"

Milagros rolled her eyes while contemplating on whether to just smash the motorcycle like a bug with her truck, Bubby. But she decide against it, as her truck was too precious to be smashed against some random trash.

She grits her teeth and parks her car next to the Oh-so-shiny-and-new motorcycle as she makes her way into school, bracing herself for the personal torture. Milagros drags her feet down the halls, taking her sweet time to walk into the room which she's going to be stuck in for the next 2 hours.

Milagros slowly opened the door to the classroom, arriving right on the dot, not even wanting to spend an extra minute in the suffocating room. The teacher was already sitting in his desk reading a book. She felt pity for the guy who could probably be at home, sleeping right now, but instead has to look after the delinquents. He held a hand out for the pink slip without looking at her and she placed it in his hand, while turning to walk towards the back of the classroom so she could read in peace without anyone else bothering her.

Milagros looked up to see the mahogany grandfather clock in the corner ticking slowly, as if it was enjoying the time students are suffering.

With a huff, Milagros plug her earbuds in and starts reading Pride and Prejudice for the hundredths time.

Scratch, scratch, a hand creeps up towards the side of her face and starts scratching her lips again. After a few moments, Milagros sighed, resisting the urge to bang her head onto the table. No one knows the struggle she goes through everyday. She was lucky that she wore concealer today so the scratch marks wasn't as visible.

Suddenly, out of nowhere, a hand yanked her earbuds out of her ears and pushed her book down onto the table.

"Hey!" Milagros exclaimed, raising her head up to see Aden, who was wearing a leather jacket and denim jeans that are stretched over his muscular thighs.

Milagros let out a groan, tilting her head back slightly. "What do you want? How do you even manage to get detention on your first day of school?" Milagros asked distastefully, while giving him her best stare.

Aden shrugs, his eyes zoning in on her fingernails that are chewed on so often they're turning into nubs. Dried blood and skin are stuck unevenly on her fingers. He wondered what could cause such horrible nails. Aden looks at Milagros before she could notice that he was observing her nails. He turns his head to look at all the teenagers gathered in this room. "Come on, I know a better thing to do than just sitting here."

Milagros squints her eyes at him.

"Do you not see the teacher over there?" Milagros said, gesturing to the teacher as she faces Aden. He merely cocked an eyebrow and nodded his head that way, as if to say go look for youself. Milagros furrowed her eyebrows as she turns her head forward to the front of the classroom, just to see the teacher gone. Poof. Vanished.

"We're not going to get caught. Unless, of course, you're too much of a wuss to go." Aden scoffs, a teasing glint in his eyes.

Milagros merely looked into the security camera and back and Aden without speaking, letting her eyes do the work.

"I dare you," Aden said, crossing his arms

There is one thing that Milagros is actually proud of, and that is her tendency to not back down from any dare. She was not going to let some stupid boy break her streak. "Why me?" she asks, only to be ignored again.

Milagros raked a hand through her hair, as she stands up and pushes her chair back, ignoring the squeaky sound the chair makes and she walks out the classroom.

She can feel his goddamn smirk as he followed her out of class.

"So where are we going?" Milagros asked suddenly curious, "You're not going to take me out into the woods and perform a ritual to sacrifice me to the demons are you?"

Aden sighs as he grumbled underneath his breath "Crazy woman."

Milagros rolled her eyes as he walked towards the direction of Bubby. "Hey! Where are you going?" She shouted at him, as he completely ignored her and continued his mission to walk forward. "Why the hell do you keep ignoring me, it's getting annoying," Milagros spats, wanting to pull out the roots of her hair in frustration.

Aden walked to the motorcycle and Milagros gasped. She should've known it was his.

"Close your mouth or you might catch flies, Princess Milagros." he said, a trace of smile on his face.

"How do you know my name?" She asks, suspicious. Ms. Maria only called Milagros by her last name and they didn't have any other classes together.

"Umm" Aden pauses slightly, not knowing how to answer. "Doesn't matter, now hop on."

Rolling her eyes at his rudeness, Milagros hopped on his bike with much difficulty, but hesitated when she has to put her hands around him.

Milagros could practically feel Aden smirking at her, "Come on, mo chuisle, I don't bite."

She understood what he said immediately, all those days of being bored and learning how to say my love in different languages really payed off.

Jerky, and cocky, her first impressions of him isn't getting any better..

Milagros finally wrapped her arms around his narrow yet built waist and hung on to her life as the engine roared to life.
