Wonho didn't know police worked so quickly. It was the day after the trip to Kihyun's house, and he was sitting in his sofa with a mug of tea, finally resting after a long day of work, when he heard knocking on the door.
He stood up with a low groan. He didn't know what to expect, but he definitely wasn't prepared for such a formal meeting from the authorities. Wonho opened the door and almost let his favourite mug slip away between his fingers when he locked eyes with his visitor – a handsome, young, detective constable who, according to the identification card he was holding up, was called Chae Hyungwon.
"Good evening, Mr. Shin Hoseok, I am DC Chae Hyungwon and I'm here on account for..." The detective began his greeting that was probably repeated a thousand times in his life, but Wonho soon lost track of what Hyungwon was saying because Kihyun was standing right behind the tall man. Wonho figured Kihyun was going to help in the investigation – though he did not know how – and shifted his attention back to Hyungwon.
Wonho was met with unmoving eyes and a face so expressionless it could've been a slab of stone, which led him to believe that his visitors were done introducing themselves and it was time to let them in. Staring at the neat black suit and perfectly fixed tie on Hyungwon's body, Wonho felt a sense of unease creep into his body. Was this what everyone felt when police knocked on their doors, no matter innocent or not? Just the thought of someone so powerful in his apartment was enough to make him nervous, let alone being questioned by that same person.
"Come in." Wonho said after staring for way too long. "I'll make you some tea."
Wonho barely had time to finish his sentence before Hyungwon brusquely refused. "No need for that. This will only take a few minutes, and our time is precious."
Used to serving his guests, Wonho was caught off guard by that answer and for a moment he did nothing but stand in the middle of the living room, unsure what to do. It was not the time to let his mind wander, but Wonho started to question untimely whether the detective believed Kihyun or not. For all he knew, Hyungwon could easily arrest Kihyun for possessing drugs.
Before things could get anymore awkward, Kihyun took a seat on the couch, which prompted Wonho to do the same, while Hyungwon sat on the armchair on the side.
Hyungwon cut straight to the chase, and Wonho hoped this was actually going to be as short as the detective promised it to be. "Where are you on the day Mr. Yoo Kihyun found drugs in his bag?"
Wonho replied without hesitation. "Working in my office."
"Where is your office?" Hyungwon asked, jotting down notes on a notebook that Wonho never saw him take out.
Wonho recited his office's address and even though he saw that the detective was able to write down everything quickly, he handed the man a business card just in case.
"Thank you." Hyungwon slipped the business card between two pages of his notebook and continued writing. "And I take it I can ask one of your colleagues in your office and they will confirm you were there?"
"Yes." Wonho replied, eyeing Hyungwon's notebook and his hand that was moving across the pages swiftly. He was about to reach the conclusion that the detective had endless notes to take down when flipped to a blank page and stopped.
"Do you believe that someone else placed drugs in your friend's bag?" Hyungwon looked up and asked.
Wonho thought the answer was quite obvious considering how he had kept everything quiet for two weeks now, but he wasn't about to waste time questioning a detective. "Of course." Wonho turned to look at Kihyun, who looked so lost and unsure of himself. He was quite sure he wasn't supposed to ask questions, but he needed to know. "Are you going to help us?"
