Y/N didn't know why she felt so empty that day, just that she did.
Nothing she tried picked her up.
Not getting her favourite coffee on the way to work from the small coffee shop Harry had introduced her to when they first became friends; not taking herself for a solo lunch at Look Mum, No Hands! where she would often take herself when she needed a bit of a pick me up; and not even when she got home and put her favourite pyjamas on and put The Notebook on the TV to drown her sorrows.
No, it wasn't until her mum had come around to see her for a couple of hours that she crashed. Falling into a heap on the sofa in front of her mum, body shaking violently as she sobbed to her.
"I don't even know- don't know why I'm crying." She let her mum envelope her in her arms and rock her back and forth for a few minutes before pulling away and wiping at the pools of tears that were getting caught under her eyes.
"We all have these sorts of days, my love. But things will pick up tomorrow."
"I guess. Nothing has even happened to cause me to feel so, shit."
Y/N had always tried not to swear in front of her mum, and so, her mum was aware that when she did, she was feeling bad.
"Sometimes we don't know why we feel rubbish, we just do. It's our head's way of telling us we need to reset ourselves. Though let me just as you, are you on your period?" Y/N rolled her eyes. "I'm just asking because I used to feel this way and we both know how similar the both of us are."
"I'm not on my period, no."
Y/M/N nodded before standing up abruptly, confusing Y/N to no end.
"You're going to come upstairs with me and sit on your bed while I run you a hot bubble bath for you. Then, you're going to sit in there for at least half an hour with no phone, no laptop and no other forms of technology-though I will put some music on for you-and you're going to relax. You deserve it."
"Thank you, mummy." A small smile was shared between the two women before Y/N followed her mum up the stairs and towards the master bedroom where her mum continued into the bathroom.
"While I'm doing this, I want you to change out of those pyjamas so you can put them back on when you're out of the bath. They need to go on the radiator so they're warm when you're out." Y/N nodded before rummaging through her drawers for her second favourite pair of sleepwear, pulling the pair she was wearing from her body and putting them on the radiator in the room before putting the new ones on.
"Seriously, thank you. I know you came over to see me and we were going to chat."
"Don't worry about it, sweetie. It's what mums are for." Y/N smiled a full smile for the first time that evening, and Y/M/N knew that she would be okay. "Right, this is ready for you. I'll let you put a bath bomb in if you'd like one but it's totally up to you."
Y/N held her mum tightly, holding her longer than she normally would, but the feel of having the one woman she truly loved hold her helped more than she could express through words.
"I'll be downstairs when you come back down. I love you".
"I love you too".
Y/N sank into the hot water that filled the porcelain bath she'd had put into the en suite, her body instantly relaxing into it and her head becoming cloudy with nothing. She took a few deep breaths and chuckled to herself at her mum's choice of spa music; leaning her head against the back of the bath and closing her eyes.
